Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 917 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 917 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 376 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 08 at Saanen Airfield (LSGK), a Cessna C182 aircraft taking to the skies. The takeoff distance covered 61% of the runway, with a liftoff speed of 71 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 16°C and a wind speed of 10 knots from a direction of 59°, resulting in a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 9 knots.
As the aircraft climbed away from Saanen, it began its enroute climb, reaching an altitude of 4,828 feet above sea level (asl) from an initial altitude of 3,799 ft asl. This climb was achieved in just 1 minute, covering a distance of 1 nautical mile. Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, lasting 2 minutes and covering a distance of 4 nautical miles. This cruise phase took place 1 mile northeast of Saanen.
The enroute descent phase began overhead Zweisimmen, with the aircraft descending from 4,428 ft asl to 3,556 ft asl. This descent was completed in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 14 at Sankt Stephan Airfield (LSTS), approaching from the northwest at a heading of 133.0° and an altitude of 245 feet above ground level (agl).
The landing on runway 14 at LSTS was characterized by a threshold speed that was slightly above the target speed of 64 knots. The touchdown distance was good, covering 375 meters of the runway. However, the touchdown speed of 52 knots was a little fast, and the touchdown rate of -264 feet per minute (fpm) was fair. The runway touchdown position was also slightly misaligned from the centreline, by 10.3 meters.
The total landing distance covered 116% of the runway length, which was 917 meters. The runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned from the centreline, by 11.8 meters. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 15°C and a wind speed of 10 knots from a direction of 11°, resulting in a crosswind of 8 knots and a tailwind of 6 knots.
In conclusion, the flight was completed with a total distance of 9 nautical miles, taking 8 minutes to complete. The aircraft used 3 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Cessna C182 aircraft successfully landed at LSTS Sankt Stephan Airfield, but with some areas for improvement. The final approach was initiated from the north-west, heading 133.0° at 1 nm and 245 ft above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 14, which has a length of 917 m.
The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 64 kn. This indicates that the pilot may have been able to maintain a more optimal speed during the approach. The touchdown distance was good at 375 m, but the touchdown speed of 52 kn was a little fast. A faster touchdown speed can increase the risk of a bounced landing or a longer rollout.
The touchdown rate of -264 fpm was fair, indicating that the aircraft was not excessively high or low during the touchdown. However, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 10.3 m from the centreline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the approach or during the landing.
The local weather conditions were relatively calm, with a temperature of 15 °C and wind speeds of 10 kn at 11°. The crosswind component was 8 kn, while the tailwind component was 6 kn. These conditions were not excessively challenging, but they may have still required the pilot to make some adjustments during the approach and landing.
The total landing distance was 1,065 m, which is 116% of the runway length. This indicates that the aircraft was able to stop within a reasonable distance, but may have been able to use a shorter distance with more optimal speed and control. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 11.8 m from the centreline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the landing or during the rollout.
Overall, the landing was successful, but there are some areas for improvement, particularly in terms of speed and alignment. With some adjustments and practice, the pilot may be able to achieve a more optimal landing.
