Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,403 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 202 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 6 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, an Airbus A350-900, then departed from runway 28 at LGTS Thessaloniki Macedonia International Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,319 meters, which is 38% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 153 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 21°C, with a wind speed of 10 knots at 269°.
As the aircraft climbed to its cruising altitude, it started its enroute climb 1 mile north-east of Peraia, Central Macedonia, Greece. The climb began at an altitude of 1,031 feet above sea level and continued to 28,130 feet above sea level, an increase of 27,098 feet in 16 minutes, covering a distance of 59 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 16 miles north-east of Tsagkarada, Thessaly, Greece, and lasted for 11 minutes, covering a distance of 71 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent 3 miles west of Eretria, Central Greece, Greece, descending from 28,193 feet above sea level to 10,290 feet above sea level, a decrease of 17,903 feet in 10 minutes, covering a distance of 55 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started again 7 miles south of Legrena, Attica, Greece, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent 7 miles south of Legrena, descending from 9,769 feet above sea level to 4,050 feet above sea level, a decrease of 5,719 feet in 5 minutes, covering a distance of 15 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started once more 5 miles south of Vouliagmeni, Attica, Greece, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 4 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent 2 miles south-east of Vouliagmeni, descending from 3,478 feet above sea level to 1,541 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,937 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 03R at LGAV Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport was made from the south-west, heading 37.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,253 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 03R, which has a length of 3,403 meters. The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 146 knots.
The touchdown distance was good at 201 meters, but the touchdown speed was fast at 144 knots, and the touchdown rate was very hard at -547 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 13.3 meters from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 19°C, with a wind speed of 12 knots at 59°.
The total landing distance was 994 meters, which is 29% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 11.9 meters from the centreline. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 4 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 220 nautical miles, taking 57 minutes, and the aircraft used 6,117 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A350-900 aircraft successfully landed on runway 03R at the Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport (LGAV) with a score of 90.8%. The final approach was initiated from the southwest, heading 37.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,253 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft touched down on the runway with a speed of 144 knots, which was slightly above the target threshold speed of 146 knots. The touchdown distance of 201 meters was considered good, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. However, the touchdown rate of -547 feet per minute (fpm) was very hard, suggesting a rapid deceleration upon touchdown.
The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 13.3 meters from the centerline, which may have contributed to the hard touchdown rate. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 19°C and a wind speed of 12 knots at 59°. The crosswind component was minimal at 5 knots, while the headwind component was 11 knots.
The total landing distance of 994 meters was 29% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing roll. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 11.9 meters from the centerline, which may have affected the aircraft's stability during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, but with some areas for improvement, particularly in terms of touchdown rate and runway alignment.
