Improve the taxi
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,317 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,317 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 290 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a quick taxiing process from the parking area to the runway, taking less than 1 minute and covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, an Airbus A319, then departed from runway 17R at SBSP Congonhas Airport in São Paulo, Brazil. The takeoff distance was 1,324 meters, which is 75% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 137 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 24°C and a wind speed of 12 knots from a direction of 330°.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile southeast of SBSP Congonhas Airport. The climb took 11 minutes to reach an altitude of 25,452 feet above sea level, an increase of 21,708 feet from the initial altitude of 3,744 feet. During this time, the aircraft covered a distance of 63 nautical miles.
After reaching the cruising altitude, the aircraft began its enroute descent, starting 4 miles northwest of Caraguatatuba, São Paulo, Brazil. The descent took 29 minutes to reach an altitude of 483 feet above sea level, a decrease of 24,803 feet from the cruising altitude. The aircraft covered a distance of 134 nautical miles during this time.
The final approach to runway 20L at SBRJ Santos Dumont Airport was made from the north, heading 185.0° at an altitude of 421 feet above ground level and a distance of 1 nautical mile from the runway threshold. The landing was made on the runway, which had a length of 1,317 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also good at 126 knots.
The touchdown distance was 290 meters, which is 54% of the runway length. The touchdown speed was 125 knots, which was a little fast, and the touchdown rate was hard at -406 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown alignment was perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 32°C and a wind speed of 13 knots from a direction of 170°.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, taking 3 minutes and covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 200 nautical miles, and the flight took 48 minutes to complete. The aircraft used 1,704 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A319 aircraft successfully landed at SBRJ Santos Dumont Airport, achieving a high score of 96.5%. The final approach to runway 20L was conducted from the north, with a heading of 185.0° at 1 nautical mile and 421 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft demonstrated good control and precision during the approach, ultimately landing safely on the runway.
The landing was executed with a good threshold height, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct altitude as it approached the runway threshold. The threshold speed of 126 knots was also within the acceptable range, suggesting that the pilot had maintained a steady and controlled descent. However, the touchdown speed of 125 knots was slightly faster than desired, which may have contributed to a harder touchdown rate.
The touchdown rate of -406 feet per minute (fpm) was considered hard, indicating that the aircraft may have experienced a slight bounce or jolt upon touchdown. Nevertheless, the runway touchdown alignment was perfect, demonstrating that the pilot had maintained a steady and controlled approach.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 32°C and a wind speed of 13 knots from a direction of 170°. The crosswind component was minimal, at 1 knot, while the headwind component was 13 knots. These conditions were favorable for the landing, and the pilot was able to maintain a steady and controlled approach despite the wind.
The total landing distance of 709 meters was 54% of the runway length, indicating that the aircraft had landed relatively close to the threshold. The runway rollout alignment was very good, suggesting that the pilot had maintained a steady and controlled rollout after touchdown. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft demonstrating good control and precision throughout the approach and landing phases.
