Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,631 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,631 m of the 3,701 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 558 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took approximately 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The Airbus A320 then departed from runway 25 at LRTM Târgu Mureş Transilvania International Airport, with a takeoff distance of 936 meters, which accounted for 47% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 142 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 5°C, with a wind speed of 4 knots at a direction of 279°. This resulted in a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 4 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile northeast of Sanpaul, Romania, and rising from an altitude of 1,988 feet above sea level to 34,998 feet above sea level, an increase of 33,011 feet in 14 minutes, covering a distance of 72 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 7 miles northeast of Budureasa, Romania, and lasted for 9 minutes, covering a distance of 57 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 2 miles north of Doboz, Hungary, and descending from 34,828 feet above sea level to 2,111 feet above sea level, a decrease of 32,717 feet in 22 minutes, covering a distance of 73 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 1 mile north of Albertirsa, Hungary, and lasted for 5 minutes, covering a distance of 13 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 31R at LHBP Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport was made from the southeast, heading 313.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,215 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 31R was successful, with the touchdown point being 142 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 131 knots, which was slightly above the target speed. The touchdown rate was smooth at -125 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.1 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 0°C, with a wind speed of 9 knots at a direction of 250°, resulting in a crosswind of 8 knots and a headwind of 4 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,550 meters, which accounted for 42% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 9.9 meters from the centerline. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area from the runway, a process that took approximately 7 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 221 nautical miles, taking 63 minutes, and the aircraft used 2,167 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at LHBP Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport, with a score of 94.2%. The aircraft approached the runway from the south east, heading 313.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,215 feet above ground level (agl). The landing was executed on runway 31R, which has a length of 3,701 meters.
The threshold height at 62 feet agl was above the target, indicating that the aircraft was slightly higher than desired at the point of touchdown. However, the threshold speed was well above the target at 140 knots, suggesting that the aircraft was descending at a relatively high rate. This could be attributed to the aircraft's configuration and the pilot's decision to descend more aggressively.
The touchdown point was 142 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 131 knots was a little fast, but the touchdown rate was smooth at -125 feet per minute (fpm). This indicates that the aircraft's descent was controlled and stable, with minimal impact on the landing gear.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.1 meters from the centerline, which could be due to the crosswind or the pilot's decision to align the aircraft with the runway. The local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 0°C and a wind speed of 9 knots at 250°. The crosswind component was 8 knots, while the headwind component was 4 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,550 meters, which is 42% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was well-controlled and the pilot executed the landing smoothly. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 9.9 meters from the centerline, which could be due to the pilot's decision to align the aircraft with the runway or the aircraft's configuration.
Overall, the landing was executed well, with a score of 94.2%. The aircraft's performance was good, and the pilot's decision-making was sound. However, there were some minor deviations from the target, which could be addressed through further training and practice.
