MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,999 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 413 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A320, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Helsinki Vantaa Airport, EFHK. This process took 11 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 04R, and the takeoff distance was 1,638 meters, which accounted for 51% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 165 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions of -4°C temperature and a wind speed of 4 knots at 359 degrees. The crosswind was 3 knots, and the headwind was 2 knots. After departing from EFHK, the enroute climb started overhead the airport, with the aircraft ascending from 1,166 feet above sea level to 36,376 feet above sea level, an increase of 35,211 feet in 13 minutes and covering 123 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 7 miles east of Multia, Finland, and lasted for 20 minutes, covering a distance of 397 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent 27 miles west of Kautokeino, Norway, and descended from 36,001 feet above sea level to 1,705 feet above sea level, a decrease of 34,296 feet in 13 minutes and covering 78 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 18 at Tromsø Airport, Langnes, ENTC, was made from the north, heading 193.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,667 feet above ground level. The landing took place on runway 18, which had a length of 1,999 meters. The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 140 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 413 meters, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 131 knots. The touchdown rate was firm at -358 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.5 meters from the centreline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were -5°C temperature and a wind speed of 12 knots at 190 degrees. The crosswind was 1 knot, and the headwind was 12 knots. The total landing distance was 1,163 meters, which accounted for 58% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 607 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 59 minutes, using 4,809 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at ENTC Tromsø Airport, Langnes, with a score of 98.0%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north, heading 193.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,667 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was made to runway 18, which has a length of 1,999 meters.
The landing was executed with good threshold height, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct altitude as it touched down on the runway. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 140 knots, which may have been due to the aircraft's descent rate or the pilot's decision to flare slightly earlier than intended. The touchdown distance of 413 meters was within the acceptable range, suggesting that the aircraft was well-controlled during the landing.
Despite a slightly fast touchdown speed of 131 knots, the touchdown rate was firm at -358 feet per minute (fpm), indicating that the aircraft was able to absorb the impact of touchdown without excessive deceleration. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.5 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the aircraft's alignment during the final approach.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of -5°C and a wind speed of 12 knots from 190°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, while the headwind component was 12 knots, which may have contributed to the slightly above-target threshold speed. The total landing distance of 1,163 meters was 58% of the runway length, which is within the acceptable range.
The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was well-controlled during the deceleration phase after touchdown. Overall, the landing was executed with a high degree of precision and control, resulting in a score of 98.0%.
