Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,565 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,565 m of the 2,395 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 593 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 10 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, an Airbus A350-900, then departed from runway 27R at EDDV Hannover Airport. The takeoff distance was 902 meters, which accounted for 28% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 152 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 18 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 1 knot from a direction of 269 degrees. The crosswind component was negligible, while the headwind component was 1 knot. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile northwest of EDDV Hannover Airport and climbing from an altitude of 1,207 feet above sea level to 19,417 feet above sea level, an increase of 18,211 feet in 8 minutes and covering a distance of 42 nautical miles.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 2 miles east of Rodinghausen, Germany, and lasted for 5 minutes, covering a distance of 35 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 2 miles west of ED02 Everswinkel UL Sendenhorst, Germany, and descending from an altitude of 20,002 feet above sea level to 3,027 feet above sea level, a decrease of 16,976 feet in 12 minutes and covering a distance of 65 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 1 mile northeast of Moenchengladbach, Germany, and lasted for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 9 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 05R at EDDL Düsseldorf Airport was made from the southwest, with the aircraft heading 53.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,260 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway.
The landing on runway 05R at EDDL Düsseldorf Airport was characterized by a runway length of 2,395 meters. The threshold height was slightly above the target, and the threshold speed was also slightly above the target at 130 knots. The touchdown point was 157 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was a little fast at 130 knots. The touchdown rate was firm at -302 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.5 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 1 knot from a direction of 270 degrees. The crosswind component was 1 knot, while the tailwind component was also 1 knot. The total landing distance was 1,464 meters, which accounted for 61% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took less than 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 158 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 37 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 4,223 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A350-900 successfully landed on runway 05R at EDDL Düsseldorf Airport, achieving a score of 93.7%. The aircraft approached the runway from the southwest, heading 53.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,260 feet above ground level (agl). The landing was executed on a runway with a length of 2,395 meters.
Upon reaching the threshold, the aircraft's height was slightly above the target at 58 feet agl, and the speed was also slightly above the target at 130 knots. The touchdown point was located 157 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, indicating a slight deviation from the intended landing spot. The touchdown speed of 130 knots was slightly faster than desired, and the touchdown rate was firm at -302 feet per minute (fpm).
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 4.5 meters, which may have contributed to the deviation from the intended touchdown zone. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 15°C, with a wind speed of 1 knot from 270°. The crosswind and tailwind components were both 1 knot, indicating minimal wind effects on the landing.
The total landing distance covered by the aircraft was 1,464 meters, which accounted for 61% of the runway length. This suggests that the aircraft had sufficient runway remaining for a safe stop. The runway rollout alignment was reported to be very good, indicating that the aircraft maintained a stable and controlled path after touchdown. Overall, the landing was successful, but with some minor deviations from the ideal performance.
