MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 6,996 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,495 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Vision Jet taxiing from the parking area to the runway at London Heathrow Airport, taking approximately 9 minutes and covering a distance of 3 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 09R, with the aircraft taking off after covering 22% of the runway's length. The takeoff distance was 2,372 feet, and the liftoff speed was 94 knots.
As the aircraft climbed into the air, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 61°F and winds blowing at 16 knots from a direction of 240°. The crosswind component was 8 knots, while the tailwind component was 14 knots. The enroute climb began approximately 1 mile northwest of Feltham, Greater London, and involved a significant increase in altitude from 1,084 feet above sea level to 29,414 feet above sea level. This climb covered a distance of 59 nautical miles and took 21 minutes to complete.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started overhead Naseby, Northamptonshire. This phase lasted for 29 minutes and covered a distance of 147 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started approximately 2 miles southeast of Penrith, Cumbria. The descent involved a decrease in altitude from 29,056 feet above sea level to 1,793 feet above sea level, covering a distance of 81 nautical miles in 21 minutes.
The final approach to runway 06 at Edinburgh Airport was made from the southwest, with the aircraft heading at 59.0° and flying at an altitude of 1,651 feet above ground level. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 54°F and winds blowing at 27 knots from a direction of 260°. The crosswind component was 10 knots, while the tailwind component was 25 knots.
The landing on runway 06 at Edinburgh Airport was successful, with the aircraft touching down at a speed of 71 knots. The touchdown distance was 1,483 feet, which was within the acceptable limits. However, the touchdown speed was slightly faster than desired. The touchdown rate was perfect at -36 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 13 feet from the centerline. The total landing distance was 4,306 feet, which accounted for 62% of the runway's length.
Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, taking approximately 1 minute and covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 296 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 82 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 570 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Vision Jet has successfully landed at Edinburgh Airport, achieving a high score of 97.9%. The aircraft approached the runway from the southwest, heading 59.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,651 feet above ground level. The pilot executed a precise final approach, taking into account the local weather conditions, which included a temperature of 54°F and wind speeds of 27 knots from 260°.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on runway 06, which has a length of 6,996 feet. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was maintained at 75 knots, indicating a well-executed approach. The touchdown distance was also within acceptable limits at 1,483 feet. However, the touchdown speed of 71 knots was slightly faster than desired, which may have been due to the tailwind component of 25 knots.
The aircraft's descent rate was perfect at -36 feet per minute, demonstrating excellent control and precision. Unfortunately, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 13 feet from the centreline, which may have been due to the crosswind component of 10 knots. Despite this, the pilot maintained excellent control, and the runway rollout alignment was very good.
The total landing distance of 4,306 feet was 62% of the runway length, which is within acceptable limits. Overall, the Vision Jet's landing at Edinburgh Airport was a success, with the pilot demonstrating excellent skills and control throughout the approach and landing phases.
