Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,739 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 578 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from KIAH George Bush Intercontinental Houston Airport, the Airbus A321 began its journey on runway 15L, taking off with a distance of 1,372 meters, which accounted for 37% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 158 knots, with a local temperature of 16°C and wind conditions of 18 knots at 30°. The crosswind component was 15 knots, while the tailwind component was 10 knots.
As the aircraft climbed out of Houston, it began its initial ascent from 1,087 feet above sea level to 4,009 feet, an increase of 2,921 feet in just 2 minutes, covering a distance of 9 nautical miles. The enroute climb phase was characterized by a series of ascents and descents, with the aircraft reaching a cruising altitude of 36,984 feet above sea level after a 20-minute climb from 4,608 feet. The aircraft then entered a level cruise phase, lasting 34 minutes and covering 301 nautical miles. The descent phase began 5 miles south-west of 80AL Sunflower Ranch Airport, with the aircraft descending from 36,863 feet to 3,198 feet in 28 minutes, covering 183 nautical miles.
The Airbus A321 finally began its final approach to runway 27L at KATL Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport, touching down 158 meters beyond the touchdown zone at a speed of 129 knots. The touchdown rate was fair at -288 feet per minute, but the runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 16.7 meters from the centreline. The total landing distance was 1,426 meters, accounting for 52% of the runway. After a 9-minute taxi to the parking area, the aircraft had completed a total flight distance of 666 nautical miles, using 4,443 kilograms of fuel in the process, and taking a total of 103 minutes to complete the journey.
The aircraft touched down on runway 27L at KATL Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport, a 2,738-meter-long runway, after a final approach from the east. The approach quality was satisfactory, with a good threshold height and a threshold speed of 133 knots, which was within the acceptable range. The touchdown point was 158 meters beyond the touchdown zone, indicating a slightly long touchdown.
The touchdown speed of 129 knots was a bit faster than desired, resulting in a fair touchdown rate of -288 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 16.7 meters from the centerline, which could have contributed to the slightly long touchdown. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 14 degrees Celsius and a crosswind of 20 knots, may have also played a role in the aircraft's performance.
The total landing distance of 1,426 meters was 52% of the runway length, which is within the acceptable range. However, the runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 18.3 meters from the centerline, indicating a need for improvement in the aircraft's control during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing performance scored 84.6%, indicating a good but not exceptional performance.
