Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,495 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 319 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A319, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Shannon Airport, located at EINN. This process took 6 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 06, and the takeoff distance was 1,442 meters, which accounted for 47% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 158 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 13 knots at 350 degrees. The crosswind was 12 knots, and the headwind was 6 knots. The enroute climb began approximately 1 mile west of Shannon, where the aircraft ascended from an altitude of 1,018 feet above sea level to 36,651 feet above sea level, an increase of 35,633 feet in 19 minutes, covering a distance of 108 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 37 miles south of Kilmore Quay, Ireland, and lasted for 18 minutes, covering a distance of 134 nautical miles. The enroute descent began overhead Newton Poppleford, England, where the aircraft descended from 36,658 feet above sea level to 1,489 feet above sea level, a decrease of 35,170 feet in 27 minutes, covering a distance of 125 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 26L at London Gatwick Airport, located at EGKK, was made from the east, heading 258.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,281 feet above ground level. The landing took place on runway 26L, which had a length of 2,495 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 130 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 321 meters, but the touchdown speed of 125 knots was a little fast. The touchdown rate was hard at -475 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 19 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 8 knots at 329 degrees. The crosswind was 7 knots, and the headwind was 2 knots. The total landing distance was 1,339 meters, which accounted for 54% of the runway. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 8.9 meters from the centerline.
After landing, the aircraft taxiied to the parking area, taking 13 minutes and covering a distance of 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 376 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 89 minutes. The aircraft used 2,876 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A319 aircraft successfully landed on runway 26L at EGKK London Gatwick Airport, achieving a score of 94.9%. The final approach was conducted from the east, heading 258.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,281 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach to the runway was precise, with a good threshold height and a threshold speed of 130 knots, which is within the acceptable range.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's performance was satisfactory, with a touchdown distance of 321 meters, which is within the expected range. However, the touchdown speed of 125 knots was slightly faster than the recommended speed, indicating that the pilot may have been able to flare the aircraft more effectively to achieve a smoother touchdown. The touchdown rate of -475 feet per minute (fpm) was also a bit hard, suggesting that the aircraft may have been subjected to a higher-than-desired deceleration force upon touchdown.
The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot maintained a precise heading and alignment with the runway during the final approach. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 19°C and a wind speed of 8 knots from 329°. The crosswind component was 7 knots, while the headwind component was 2 knots, which is relatively minimal.
The total landing distance of 1,339 meters was 54% of the runway length, which is within the acceptable range. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 8.9 meters from the centerline, indicating that the pilot may have experienced some difficulty in maintaining a straight course during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was successful, but there is room for improvement in terms of touchdown speed and rollout alignment.
