MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 6,073 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 6,073 ft of the 10,619 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 2,695 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 14 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 33R at KIAH George Bush Intercontinental Houston Airport. The takeoff distance was 3,317 feet, which was 28% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 157 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 53°F and winds of 8 knots at 9°. The crosswind was 5 knots, while the headwind was 6 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile west of the airport and rising from an altitude of 1,173 feet above sea level to 32,467 feet above sea level, an increase of 31,294 feet in 18 minutes and covering a distance of 128 nautical miles.
After reaching the cruising altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 5 miles northwest of F17 Center Mun Center in Texas. This phase lasted for 71 minutes and covered a distance of 553 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 1 mile east of Manito in Illinois and descending from 32,271 feet above sea level to 9,940 feet above sea level, a decrease of 22,330 feet in 13 minutes and covering a distance of 78 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 3 miles northeast of 67IL Mitchell RLA Restricted Landing Area in Illinois. This phase lasted for 32 minutes and covered a distance of 70 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent, starting 18 miles east of Near North Side in Illinois and descending from 8,885 feet above sea level to 1,935 feet above sea level, a decrease of 6,950 feet in 12 minutes and covering a distance of 26 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 27C at KORD Chicago O'Hare International Airport was made from the east, with a heading of 270.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,261 feet above ground level. The landing was made on the runway, which had a length of 10,619 feet. The threshold height at 58 feet above ground level was slightly above the target, while the threshold speed was well above the target at 144 knots.
The touchdown point was 1,313 feet beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 134 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was firm at -365 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, but the runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 51 feet from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 23°F and winds of 11 knots at 312°. The crosswind was 8 knots, while the headwind was 8 knots.
The total landing distance was 5,790 feet, which was 55% of the runway length. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 6 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 866 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 166 minutes. The aircraft used 15,758 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed on runway 27C at KORD Chicago O'Hare International Airport, achieving an overall score of 85.4%. The final approach to the runway was initiated from the east, heading 270.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,261 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down 1,313 feet beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is slightly outside the target area. The touchdown speed of 134 knots was a bit faster than the desired speed, indicating that the pilots may have needed to apply more braking to bring the aircraft to a stop. The touchdown rate of -365 feet per minute (fpm) was firm, suggesting that the pilots maintained control of the aircraft during the landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 23°F and a wind speed of 11 knots from a direction of 312°. This resulted in a crosswind of 8 knots and a headwind of 8 knots, which the pilots successfully managed during the landing. The runway length of 10,619 feet was sufficient to accommodate the aircraft's landing distance of 5,790 feet, which accounted for 55% of the available runway.
However, there were some areas for improvement during the landing. The threshold height at 58 feet agl was slightly above the target, indicating that the pilots may have needed to adjust their approach to ensure a more precise touchdown. Additionally, the runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 51 feet from the centreline, which may have been due to the pilots' response to the firm touchdown rate or the crosswind conditions.
Overall, the landing was successful, and the pilots demonstrated their ability to manage the aircraft in challenging weather conditions. However, there are opportunities for improvement in terms of touchdown speed, threshold height, and runway rollout alignment.
