MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 7,404 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,347 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 3 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Cessna CJ4 Citation, then departed from runway 35L at KDFW Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. The takeoff distance was 3,529 feet, which accounted for 26% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 156 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 62°F and a wind speed of 1 knot from 270°. The crosswind was 1 knot, while the headwind was 0 knots. The aircraft began its enroute climb 1 mile north of KDFW, rising from an altitude of 1,571 feet above sea level to 15,008 feet above sea level, an increase of 13,438 feet in 7 minutes and covering 26 nautical miles.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 1 mile southeast of 15TT Fordlane Flyers Airport Lucas, Texas. This phase lasted for 90 minutes and covered a distance of 517 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent 1 mile southwest of Woodville, Alabama, descending from 15,002 feet above sea level to 6,007 feet above sea level, a decrease of 8,995 feet in 6 minutes and covering 32 nautical miles.
The aircraft entered another level cruise phase 1 mile east of Ider, Alabama, which lasted for 2 minutes and covered 8 nautical miles. It then began its descent 3 miles east of 3GE4 Fox Mountain Airport Rising Fawn, Alabama, descending from 5,747 feet above sea level to 3,891 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,856 feet in 2 minutes and covering 9 nautical miles.
The aircraft entered another level cruise phase 4 miles south of Chickamauga, Georgia, which lasted for 4 minutes and covered 3 nautical miles. It then began its descent 3 miles north of LaFayette, Georgia, descending from 3,796 feet above sea level to 1,978 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,819 feet in 4 minutes and covering 12 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 02 at KCHA Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport (Lovell Field) was made from the south, heading 17.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,275 feet above ground level. The landing was successful, with a touchdown speed of 97 knots and a touchdown rate of -158 feet per minute. The touchdown distance was 1,345 feet, which was 34% of the runway length.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 59°F and a wind speed of 1 knot from 270°. The crosswind was 1 knot, while the headwind was 0 knots. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 22 feet from the centreline. The total landing distance was 2,529 feet, and the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 26 feet from the centreline.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took less than 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 614 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 122 minutes. Notably, the aircraft used 0 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Cessna CJ4 Citation successfully landed at KCHA Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport (Lovell Field) with a score of 97.0%. The aircraft approached the runway from the south, heading 17.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,275 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot maintained a good threshold height, which is a crucial aspect of a safe landing.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold speed was recorded at 108 knots, which is within the acceptable range. The touchdown distance of 1,345 feet was also within the expected parameters. The touchdown speed of 97 knots was good, and the touchdown rate of -158 feet per minute (fpm) was also satisfactory. These factors collectively indicate a smooth and controlled landing.
However, there were some minor deviations from the ideal landing performance. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 22 feet from the centreline, which may have been due to a slight miscalculation of the aircraft's position or a minor deviation in the pilot's control inputs. Additionally, the runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 26 feet from the centreline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 59°F and a wind speed of 1 knot from 270°. This resulted in a negligible crosswind component of 1 knot and a headwind of 0 knots. The total landing distance of 2,529 feet was 34% of the runway length, which is within the acceptable range. Overall, the landing was successful, and the pilot demonstrated good control and decision-making skills.
