MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,021 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 306 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The aircraft taxied from the parking area to runway 18 at CYWG Winnipeg / James Armstrong Richardson International Airport in 8 minutes, covering a distance of 3 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 18, the Boeing 737 MAX 8 accelerated to a liftoff speed of 151 kt and became airborne after traveling 1,620 m, which represented 48 % of the runway length; ambient temperature was 28 °C with a wind of 5 kt from 310°, a 4 kt crosswind component and a 3 kt tailwind component.
Climb commenced approximately 1 mile south of CYWG, with the aircraft ascending from 1,726 ft asl to 37,785 ft asl, a gain of 36,060 ft achieved in 20 minutes while covering 117 nm.
Level cruise began 9 nm southwest of Minnedosa, Manitoba, and was maintained for 108 minutes, during which the flight covered 768 nm.
Descent was initiated 14 nm northwest of West Kelowna, British Columbia; the aircraft descended from 38,003 ft asl to 1,250 ft asl, a loss of 36,754 ft in 26 minutes, traversing 135 nm.
The final approach to runway 26R at CYVR Vancouver International Airport was flown from the east on a heading of 280.0°, intercepting the approach at 4 nm and 1,228 ft agl.
Landing on runway 26R was executed with a threshold speed of 144 kt; touchdown occurred at 142 kt, 94 m down the runway, and the aircraft’s vertical speed at touchdown was minus 333 fpm, with perfect alignment to the runway centreline.
Rollout continued for a total landing distance of 923 m, representing 33 % of the runway length; the runway touchdown alignment remained perfect throughout the rollout.
After landing, the aircraft taxied from the runway to the parking area in 4 minutes, covering a distance of 1 nm.
In total, the flight covered 1,030 nm, required 166 minutes of airborne time, and consumed 5,523 kg of fuel.
The Boeing 737 MAX 8 conducted the final approach to runway 26R at CYVR from the east, tracking a heading of 280.0° at 4 nm and 1,228 ft agl. The approach was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope and centreline all within limits. Local weather was 23 °C with a wind of 9 kt from 280°, giving a head-wind component of 9 kt and zero cross-wind.
At threshold the height was good and the threshold speed was good at 144 kt. The aircraft crossed the threshold and the flare produced a touchdown distance that was good at 94 m.
Touchdown occurred with a speed of 142 kt, noted as a little fast, and a firm touchdown rate of minus 333 fpm. Runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The rollout covered a total landing distance of 923 m, representing 33 % of the 2,806 m runway, and runway rollout alignment remained perfect.
To refine the already high score of 97.9 %, a slight reduction in touchdown speed toward the target VREF would lessen the modest excess. Smoothing the flare to achieve a gentler rate of descent will further improve touchdown quality while preserving the excellent alignment.
