Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,689 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,689 m of the 2,738 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 595 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in the Airbus A321 began with a 4-minute taxi from the parking area to the runway at KSAT San Antonio Intl. The departure roll on runway 04 covered 1,618 meters, which was 62% of the total runway length. The liftoff speed was 154 knots, with the local weather showing a temperature of 27°C and wind speed of 15 knots coming from 103°, resulting in a crosswind of 13 knots and a headwind of 7 knots.
The enroute climb started 1 mile northeast of KSAT San Antonio Intl, climbing from 1,803 feet above sea level to 35,200 feet, covering a distance of 136 nm in 12 minutes. The level cruise portion of the flight began 2 miles south of O07 Westheimer Houston and lasted 34 minutes, covering a distance of 526 nm.
The enroute descent segment started 8 miles southwest of 07A Franklin Union Springs, descending from 35,686 feet to 2,714 feet in 22 minutes, covering a distance of 123 nm. The landing took place on runway 27L at KATL Hartsfield - Jackson Atlanta Intl, with a runway length of 2,738 meters. The aircraft was at a height of 37 feet above ground level at the threshold of the runway, with a speed of 142 knots. The touchdown occurred 598 meters from the threshold, with a touchdown speed of 136 knots and a vertical speed indicator reading of -188 ft/min. The local weather at the time of landing showed a temperature of 20°C and a wind speed of 6 knots from 360°, resulting in a crosswind of 6 knots and no headwind.
The total landing distance was 1,611 meters, which was 59% of the total runway length. The taxi back to the parking area from the runway took 3 minutes, covering less than 1 nm. The total flight distance was 794 nm, with a total flight time of 4 hours and 39 minutes, and the aircraft used 5,532 kg of fuel.
Congratulations on achieving a fantastic aircraft landing score of 97.1%! This is an impressive result that clearly demonstrates a high level of skill and precision during the various phases of the landing process.
During the Approach Phase, it is evident that there was excellent glideslope alignment, which is crucial for ensuring a smooth descent towards the runway. This indicates great accuracy and judgment in managing the aircraft's vertical profile as it approaches the landing zone.
Moving on to the Landing Phase, it is noted that the threshold height was good and the landing flare was very good. This suggests that the pilot was able to execute a controlled descent towards the runway threshold and perform a smooth transition to the landing flare, contributing to a stable and safe touchdown.
In the Touchdown Phase, the touchdown rate was good and the speed was on target, which are key factors in achieving a safe and comfortable landing. Additionally, the touchdown point being 182 meters beyond the touchdown zone shows a good balance between landing distance and runway utilization, enhancing overall operational efficiency.
Furthermore, the runway touchdown position being 5.0 meters from the centerline reflects a high level of precision in maintaining lateral alignment during touchdown, contributing to runway safety and operational standards.
Finally, in the Rollout Phase, the runway alignment being 5.2 meters from the centerline indicates consistent attention to maintaining track accuracy during the rollout, further enhancing overall landing performance.
Overall, this detailed analysis highlights a commendable level of proficiency and attention to detail throughout the entire landing process. Keep up the excellent work and continue striving for precision and excellence in your future landings. Well done on this outstanding achievement!
