Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,626 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 269 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking area to the runway, which took approximately 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-900, then departed from runway 08 at KBUR Hollywood Burbank Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,692 meters, which accounted for 96% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 167 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 19 degrees Celsius and winds of 6 knots at 223 degrees. The crosswind was 4 knots, and there was a 4-knot tailwind. The enroute climb began approximately 1 mile north of Burbank, California, and the aircraft ascended from an altitude of 1,780 feet above sea level to 33,554 feet, an increase of 31,774 feet, in 16 minutes while covering a distance of 87 nautical miles.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 2 miles southeast of Mexican Colony, California. This phase lasted for 85 minutes and covered a distance of 627 nautical miles. The enroute descent began approximately 1 mile south of Mill Plain, Washington, and the aircraft descended from 32,574 feet to 1,674 feet, a decrease of 30,901 feet, in 24 minutes while covering a distance of 115 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 16L at KSEA Seattle–Tacoma International Airport was made from the north, with a heading of 180.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,222 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing was made on runway 16L, which had a length of 3,626 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 144 knots.
The touchdown distance was good at 272 meters, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 142 knots. The touchdown rate was fair at -278 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 4.2 meters. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius and winds of 14 knots at 139 degrees. The crosswind was 9 knots, and there was a 11-knot headwind.
In total, the flight covered a distance of 836 nautical miles and took 136 minutes to complete. The aircraft used 6,051 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-900 aircraft successfully landed at Seattle–Tacoma International Airport (KSEA) on runway 16L, achieving a high score of 98.6%. The final approach was conducted from the north, heading 180.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,222 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft touched down on the runway with a good threshold height, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 144 kt, suggesting that the pilots may have been slightly aggressive in their approach. The touchdown distance of 272 meters was also within acceptable limits, demonstrating good control and precision during the landing.
Despite the good touchdown distance, the touchdown speed of 142 kt was a little fast, which may have resulted in a slightly higher touchdown rate. The touchdown rate of -278 feet per minute (fpm) was fair, indicating that the aircraft was not excessively decelerating upon touchdown. However, a slightly lower touchdown rate would have been desirable to minimize the impact on the aircraft's landing gear.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.2 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the aircraft's approach path or a minor error in the pilots' alignment with the runway. Nevertheless, this deviation was relatively minor and did not appear to have any significant impact on the safety or success of the landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 15°C and a wind speed of 14 kt from 139°. The crosswind component was 9 kt, while the headwind component was 11 kt. These conditions were relatively moderate and did not appear to have presented any significant challenges for the pilots during the landing. Overall, the Boeing 737-900 aircraft performed well during the landing, and the pilots demonstrated good control and precision in their approach and touchdown.
