Flight Score
Arrival
Add power on final to hold 87 kt across the threshold.
What happened: The aircraft crossed the threshold at 71 kt, 16 kt below VREF, and low energy like this usually carries through to a firm touchdown at 165 fpm.
Watch for: Airspeed indicator: 87 kt at the threshold
Every knot above Vref is stored kinetic energy, and energy stored at the threshold must be dissipated in ground effect before the aeroplane will stop flying. Because kinetic energy scales with the square of speed, the excess you must dissipate grows fast. At a 45-knot approach, five knots hot is over a tenth more speed and roughly a quarter more energy to get rid of in ground effect. This is why the fix is never in the flare. It was decided three miles earlier, on final, at the airspeed indicator.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 7,985 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,852 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Pointe-à-Pitre Le Raizet International Airport, the Vision Jet began its journey with a taxiing phase that lasted 8 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. As the aircraft reached the runway, it initiated its departure roll on runway 12, utilizing 4,123 feet of the available runway, which accounted for 49% of its length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 94 knots, taking advantage of the 9-knot headwind.
As the Vision Jet climbed to its enroute level, it traversed a significant altitude increase of 28,623 feet in 22 minutes, covering a distance of 79 nautical miles. The climb phase began overhead Les Abymes, Guadeloupe, and continued until the aircraft reached its cruising altitude of 29,629 feet. The enroute level cruise phase that followed lasted 25 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 129 nautical miles, 12 miles west of Salem, Montserrat. The descent phase that ensued was initiated 14 miles southeast of Christiansted Harbor Seaplane Base, Christiansted St Croix, and resulted in a decrease of 18,992 feet in 12 minutes, covering a distance of 66 nautical miles.
The Vision Jet continued its journey, experiencing several enroute level cruise phases, including a brief 3-minute cruise 5 miles southwest of Esperanza, Vieques Municipality, Puerto Rico. The final descent phase began 7 miles west of TJVQ Antonio Rivera Rodriguez Airport, Vieques, and resulted in a decrease of 8,438 feet in 15 minutes, covering a distance of 47 nautical miles. The aircraft then initiated its final approach to runway 10 at Luis Munoz Marin International Airport, landing with a total landing distance of 2,103 feet, which accounted for 26% of the available runway. The touchdown speed of 62 knots and touchdown rate of -167 feet per minute were both within acceptable limits. After landing, the Vision Jet taxied to the parking area, concluding its journey with a total flight distance of 341 nautical miles, a flight time of 92 minutes, and a fuel consumption of 623 pounds.
The final approach to runway 10 at TJSJ Luis Munoz Marin International Airport from the west was executed with precision, with the aircraft maintaining a heading of 90.0° at 4 nm and 1,287 ft above ground level. The approach quality was excellent, with a good threshold height achieved. However, the threshold speed was slightly below the target at 71 kt, indicating a slight deviation from the ideal approach speed.
As the aircraft touched down on the runway, the touchdown point was 391 ft beyond the touchdown zone, which is slightly beyond the ideal touchdown zone. The touchdown speed of 62 kt was good, and the touchdown rate of -167 fpm was also within acceptable limits. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 11 ft from the centreline, which may require some adjustment in the approach path to achieve better centreline alignment. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 81 °F and a wind of 8 kt at 120°, contributed to a relatively calm approach.
The total landing distance of 2,103 ft was 26% of the runway length, which is within acceptable limits. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, with the aircraft maintaining a straight path along the centreline. Overall, the landing was executed well, with a score of 98.0% indicating a high level of proficiency.
