MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,570 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,570 m of the 3,186 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 511 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 5 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, an Airbus A321, then departed from runway 24 at EHAM Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The takeoff distance was 1,650 meters, which is 52% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 168 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 11 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 8 knots at 229 degrees. The crosswind component was 1 knot, and the headwind component was 8 knots.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb, which started 1 mile northwest of Aalsmeerderbrug. The climb took 13 minutes and covered a distance of 117 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from an altitude of 1,031 feet above sea level to 35,240 feet above sea level, an increase of 34,209 feet. The enroute level cruise then began 1 mile east of EDWJ Juist Airport Juist, and it lasted for 20 minutes, covering a distance of 590 nautical miles.
The enroute descent started 36 miles northwest of EEKA Kärdla Airport Kärdla, and it took 19 minutes to descend from an altitude of 34,823 feet above sea level to 1,440 feet above sea level, a decrease of 33,382 feet. The descent covered a distance of 116 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 22L at EFHK Helsinki Vantaa Airport was made from the northeast, heading 228.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,279 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 22L was successful, with a touchdown point 96 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 134 knots, which was good, and the touchdown rate was hard at -447 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, and the local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 0 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 6 knots at 250 degrees. The crosswind component was 2 knots, and the headwind component was 6 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,491 meters, which is 47% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 831 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 60 minutes. The aircraft used 5,271 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed at EFHK Helsinki Vantaa Airport, achieving a high score of 93.3%. The final approach to runway 22L was initiated from the north east, with a heading of 228.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,279 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft's performance during the landing was satisfactory, with a good threshold height and speed of 142 knots. The touchdown point was 96 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 134 knots was also within the acceptable range, indicating a smooth and controlled descent.
However, the touchdown rate was somewhat hard, at -447 feet per minute (fpm), which may indicate a slightly aggressive approach. Nevertheless, the runway touchdown alignment was very good, suggesting that the aircraft was well-aligned with the runway during the landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 0°C and a wind speed of 6 knots from a direction of 250°. The crosswind component was minimal, at 2 knots, while the headwind component was 6 knots, which helped to stabilize the aircraft during the landing.
The total landing distance of 1,491 meters was 47% of the runway length, which is a reasonable distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the aircraft was well-controlled during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft achieving a high score and demonstrating good control and stability during the approach and touchdown phases.
