MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,444 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 152 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The ATR 72 taxied from the parking area to runway 10 at TTPP Piarco International Airport, a movement that lasted 6 minutes and covered 3 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 10, the aircraft accelerated over a takeoff distance of 1,457 m, representing 46 % of the runway, and lifted off at 116 kt. Ambient conditions were a temperature of 33 °C with wind from 130° at 10 kt, providing a 6 kt cross-wind component and an 8 kt head-wind component.
Climb commenced 1 mile east of TTPP, with the aircraft climbing from 1,071 ft asl to 7,199 ft asl, an increase of 6,128 ft achieved in 4 minutes while covering 12 nm.
Level cruise began 7 miles north-east of Arima and was maintained for 3 minutes, during which the aircraft travelled 13 nm.
Descent started 19 miles south-west of TTCP A.N.R. Robinson International Airport, descending from 6,721 ft asl to 1,252 ft asl, a loss of 5,468 ft in 4 minutes and covering 17 nm.
The final approach to runway 11 at TTCP was executed from the west, on a heading of 96.0°, at 4 nm and 1,215 ft agl.
Landing on runway 11, which is 2,444 m long, occurred with a threshold speed of 104 kt. Touchdown was recorded 153 m down the runway at 101 kt, with a touchdown rate of minus 75 fpm and a lateral deviation of 5.5 m from the centreline. Weather at the time was 30 °C with wind from 115° at 10 kt, giving a 4 kt cross-wind and a 9 kt head-wind component.
The total landing distance measured 825 m, equivalent to 34 % of the runway, and the rollout alignment was judged very good.
After landing, the aircraft taxied from the runway to the parking area in 3 minutes, covering less than 1 nm.
In summary, the flight covered 52 nm, required 23 minutes from departure to arrival, and consumed 268 kg of fuel.
On final the ATR-72 was established on a 96.0° heading 4 nm from runway 11 at TTCP A.N.R. Robinson International Airport, descending to 1,215 ft agl. The local weather was 30 °C with a wind of 10 kt from 115°, giving a 9 kt headwind and a 4 kt crosswind component.
The aircraft crossed the threshold at a good height and the threshold speed was good at 104 kt, indicating a stable approach into the flare.
Touchdown occurred 153 m down the runway at a speed of 101 kt, noted as a little fast, with an excellent vertical rate of -75 fpm. The touchdown point was slightly misaligned by 5.5 m from the centreline.
The total landing distance was 825 m, representing 34 % of the 2,444 m runway, and the rollout alignment was very good.
Fine-tune the flare to reduce the touchdown speed marginally and adjust the final alignment to centre the aircraft more precisely, which will bring the already high score even closer to perfection.
