MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 11,076 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 2,016 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The REDWING SUPER CONSTELLATION 1049 C took off from runway 25R at Los Angeles International Airport (KLAX) with a departure roll distance of 840 feet, which accounted for 8% of the runway length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 111 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were a temperature of 64°F and a wind speed of 14 knots from a direction of 260°.
As the aircraft began its enroute climb, it started 1 mile west of El Segundo, California, and climbed from an altitude of 1,006 feet above sea level to 19,918 feet above sea level, an increase of 18,912 feet in just 15 minutes. This climb covered a distance of 41 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered a level cruise phase, which started 26 miles south of Point Mugu Naval Air Station (KNTD) and lasted for 54 minutes, covering a distance of 13 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began another climb phase, this time starting 18 miles southeast of W R Byron Airport (44CA) and climbing from 20,185 feet above sea level to 21,045 feet above sea level, an increase of 860 feet in just 2 minutes. This climb covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 20 miles southeast of W R Byron Airport and lasted for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 15 nautical miles.
As the aircraft began its descent, it started 20 miles south of Point Mugu Naval Air Station and descended from 21,187 feet above sea level to 748 feet above sea level, a decrease of 20,439 feet in just 14 minutes. This descent covered a distance of 40 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 25L at KLAX, flying from the east at a heading of 260.0° and at an altitude of 616 feet above ground level.
The aircraft landed on runway 25L, which had a length of 11,076 feet. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed at 128 knots. The touchdown point was 621 feet beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 112 knots, which was good. The touchdown rate was smooth at -121 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The total landing distance was 4,152 feet, which accounted for 37% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect. After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area from the runway in less than 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 119 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 47 minutes. The aircraft used a total of -23,832 pounds of fuel during the flight. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 61°F and a wind speed of 12 knots from a direction of 249°.
The REDWING SUPER CONSTELLATION 1049 C American Overseas successfully landed at KLAX Los Angeles International Airport, achieving a score of 97.6%. The aircraft approached the runway from the east, heading 260.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 616 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with precision, and the aircraft landed smoothly on runway 25L, which has a length of 11,076 feet.
The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 128 knots. The touchdown point was 621 feet beyond the touchdown zone, but the touchdown speed of 112 knots was within the acceptable range. The touchdown rate was smooth at -121 feet per minute (fpm), indicating a controlled descent. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, demonstrating the pilot's skill and attention to detail.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 61°F and a wind speed of 12 knots from 249°. The crosswind component was minimal at 3 knots, while the headwind component was 12 knots, which helped to reduce the landing distance. The total landing distance was 4,152 feet, which is 37% of the runway length. This indicates that the aircraft landed within a safe margin of the runway, and the runway rollout alignment was perfect, further demonstrating the pilot's expertise.
Overall, the landing was executed with precision and control, and the aircraft came to a stop smoothly on the runway. The high score of 97.6% reflects the pilot's exceptional skills and the aircraft's performance.
