MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Arrival
Fly a steeper descent on final so you cross the threshold at 50 ft agl instead of 58 ft agl.
What happened: The aircraft crossed the threshold at 58 ft agl against a 50 ft agl target, well above the normal profile. The touchdown point was also long at 738 m against a 457 m target, a pattern often seen after high threshold crossings.
Watch for: Radio altimeter against the 50 ft threshold crossing target on short final.
Ground effect becomes significant below about one wingspan of height. A Cessna 172, with a 36 ft span, enters ground effect at flare height - the float it feels in the hold-off is ground effect arriving on cue. An A320, with a span around 117 ft, has been in ground effect since before the threshold and there is no sudden cushion to feel, only a gradual reduction in induced drag that lengthens any float you allow.

The approach before the go-around was abandoned. Its marks are shown, but only the approach that landed counts.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,990 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,990 m of the 2,739 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 738 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Boeing 737-800 taxied from the parking area to runway 08R at KMIA for 12 minutes, covering 2 nm, and then departed on runway 08R. Takeoff used 1,808 m of runway (56 % of runway). Rotation occurred at 142 kt. Local weather was 26 °C with wind 11 kt from 030°, giving a 9 kt crosswind and a 6 kt headwind.
Initial climb to 1,000 ft agl took 26 seconds, averaging 1,934 fpm and reaching 163 kt at the top of the climb. The aircraft then climbed from 991 ft asl to 35,989 ft asl in 21 minutes, covering 137 nm, beginning about 1 mile south-west of Brownsville.
Cruise was maintained at 36,000 ft asl for 40 minutes, covering 288 nm, with the aircraft positioned about 3 miles south of 80FA Lake Marian Seaplane Base Kenansville.
Descent began from 35,997 ft asl to 2,343 ft asl in 27 minutes, covering 142 nm, starting roughly 7 miles south-east of Rentz.
The first final approach to runway 09R at KATL descended from 1,346 ft agl to 43 ft agl in 102 seconds. Stabilisation checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway were met: gear down, landing flap, sink rate, on glideslope, on centreline, on speed, wings level. Configuration on final was flap position 8 at 1,143 ft agl, speed 152 kt.
A go-around was executed on runway 09R at KATL at 0 ft agl.
A second final approach to runway 09R at KATL descended from 1,327 ft agl to 32 ft agl in 103 seconds. Stabilisation checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft were again met with the same items. Configuration remained flap position 8 at 1,143 ft agl, speed 152 kt.
Landing on runway 09R (runway length 2,739 m) had a threshold height of 58 ft agl, slightly above target, and a threshold speed of 136 kt, described as good. The flare was perfect; the aircraft floated before touchdown. Touchdown occurred 333 m beyond the touchdown zone, at 127 kt, with a rate of -184 fpm, and was slightly misaligned by 3.6 m from centreline. Local weather was 13 °C with wind 5 kt from 061°, giving a 2 kt crosswind and a 4 kt headwind. No bounce occurred.
Total landing distance was 1,922 m (70 % of runway) and rollout alignment was very good. The flight covered 629 nm in 115 minutes and used 4,880 kg of fuel.
