Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 7,049 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 7,049 ft of the 11,467 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 2,208 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 12 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-700, then departed from runway 09 at SVMG Del Caribe Santiago Mariño International Airport, Isla Margarita, Venezuela. The takeoff distance was 1,760 feet, which is 18% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 139 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 83°F and a wind speed of 6 knots at 86°. The crosswind component was 1 knot, while the headwind component was 5 knots. The aircraft climbed to an altitude of 21,678 feet above sea level, an increase of 20,600 feet from the initial altitude of 1,078 feet, in just 4 minutes and covering a distance of 11 nautical miles.
The enroute climb phase started over SVMG Del Caribe Santiago Mariño International Airport and continued until the aircraft reached a cruising altitude. The enroute level cruise phase began 6 miles southwest of SVIE Andrés Miguel Salazar Marcano Airport, Isla de Coche, Venezuela, and lasted for 20 minutes, covering a distance of 143 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its enroute descent phase, starting 12 miles northwest of SVWM El Mofo, Venezuela. The descent from 21,925 feet to 5,437 feet above sea level, a decrease of 16,488 feet, took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 48 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, this time lasting 7 minutes and covering 8 nautical miles, as it flew 18 miles west of Catia La Mar, Venezuela.
The final descent phase began 13 miles west of Catia La Mar, and the aircraft descended from 4,942 feet to 1,517 feet above sea level, a decrease of 3,425 feet, in 5 minutes and covering a distance of 11 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 10 at SVMI Simón Bolívar International Airport, flying from the west at a heading of 88.0° and at an altitude of 1,332 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 10 was successful, with a touchdown point 809 feet beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 102 knots, which was good, and the touchdown rate was firm at -338 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 16 feet from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 91°F and a wind speed of 4 knots at 62°. The crosswind component was 2 knots, while the headwind component was 4 knots.
The total landing distance was 6,750 feet, which is 59% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 5 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 229 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 64 minutes. The aircraft used 5,471 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-700 aircraft successfully landed at Simón Bolívar International Airport, with a final approach score of 91.3%. The aircraft was approaching runway 10 from the west, heading 88.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,332 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot maintained a good threshold height, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 111 knots.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed 809 feet beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 102 knots, which was considered good. The touchdown rate was firm at -338 feet per minute (fpm), indicating a controlled descent. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 16 feet from the centreline, which may require some adjustments in the pilot's approach.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 91°F and a wind speed of 4 knots at 62°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 knots, while the headwind component was 4 knots, which helped to stabilize the aircraft during the landing. The total landing distance was 6,750 feet, accounting for 59% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight.
During the rollout, the aircraft maintained a very good alignment with the runway, indicating that the pilot had successfully controlled the aircraft's direction and speed after touchdown. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the pilot demonstrating good control and judgment throughout the approach and touchdown phases.
