Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 2,012 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,012 m of the 3,567 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 261 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Milan Malpensa International Airport, taking 12 minutes and covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. Departure roll occurred on runway 35R, with a takeoff distance of 1,875 meters, which was 63% of the runway length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 161 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to its cruising altitude, it encountered local weather conditions of 25°C temperature and a wind speed of 6 knots at 176 degrees. The crosswind was 1 knot, while the tailwind was 6 knots. The enroute climb started 1 mile southwest of Casorate Sempione, Italy, and reached an altitude of 38,236 feet above sea level, an increase of 36,476 feet in 18 minutes, covering a distance of 220 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 2 miles southeast of Cerkno, Slovenia, and lasted for 31 minutes, covering a distance of 496 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent 3 miles east of Bicazu Ardelean, Romania, and descended from 38,552 feet to 6,735 feet above sea level, a decrease of 31,817 feet in 10 minutes, covering a distance of 116 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another enroute level cruise, this time starting 2 miles west of Chişinău International Airport, Moldova, and lasting for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 8 nautical miles. The enroute descent began 5 miles south of Vadul Lui Voda National Airport, Moldova, and descended from 6,268 feet to 2,417 feet above sea level, a decrease of 3,851 feet in 5 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another enroute level cruise, starting 3 miles northwest of Anenii Noi, Moldova, and lasting for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 26 at Chişinău International Airport was made from the east, heading 268.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,219 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 26 was successful, with a touchdown distance of 261 meters and a touchdown speed of 132 knots, which was slightly above the target speed. The touchdown rate was very hard at -545 feet per minute, but the runway touchdown alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 29°C temperature and a wind speed of 13 knots at 189 degrees, with a crosswind of 12 knots and a headwind of 3 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,933 meters, which was 54% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 13.0 meters from the centerline. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 860 nautical miles, taking 84 minutes, and the aircraft used 5,456 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at LUKK Chişinău International Airport, with a score of 91.7%. The aircraft approached the runway from the east, heading 268.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,219 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was made to runway 26, which has a length of 3,567 meters.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down with a speed of 132 knots, which was slightly above the target threshold speed of 134 knots. The touchdown distance was good, measuring 261 meters. However, the touchdown rate was quite hard, at -545 feet per minute (fpm), indicating a relatively abrupt touchdown.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 29°C and a wind speed of 13 knots from a direction of 189°. This resulted in a crosswind of 12 knots and a headwind of 3 knots. The aircraft's alignment with the runway during touchdown was very good, indicating a high degree of control and precision.
The total landing distance was 1,933 meters, which accounted for 54% of the runway length. While this is a relatively short landing distance, it is worth noting that the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 13.0 meters from the centerline. This may indicate a slight deviation in the aircraft's control during the rollout phase, but it did not appear to have a significant impact on the overall landing performance.
