Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 500 ft gate: sink rate above what the glideslope needed.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 2,071 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,071 m of the 3,855 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 648 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The aircraft taxied from the parking area to runway 26L at CYVR Vancouver International Airport, covering 2 nm in 6 minutes.
During the departure roll on runway 26L, the takeoff run measured 1,477 m, representing 42 % of the runway length, and the aircraft lifted off at 155 kt. Local weather at the time was temperature 18 °C, wind 3 kt from 320 °, with a 2 kt cross-wind component and a 2 kt head-wind component.
Climb commenced 1 mile west of CYVR, with the aircraft ascending from 965 ft asl to 33,002 ft asl, an increase of 32,037 ft achieved in 17 minutes while covering 117 nm.
Level cruise began 13 miles south-east of Princeton, British Columbia, and persisted for 23 minutes, during which 193 nm were flown.
Descent was initiated 10 miles east of CAA8 Invermere Airport, descending from 32,988 ft asl to 4,856 ft asl, a decrease of 28,132 ft completed in 15 minutes over a distance of 83 nm.
The final approach to runway 35L at CYYC Calgary International Airport was conducted from the south, on a heading of 0.0 °, at 4 nm and 1,290 ft agl.
Landing on runway 35L, which is 3,860 m long, occurred with a threshold speed recorded as good at 149 kt. The touchdown point was 256 m beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 142 kt described as a little fast and a hard touchdown rate of minus 420 fpm. Runway touchdown alignment was perfect. Local weather at landing was temperature 12 °C, wind 1 kt from 0 °, with no cross-wind and a 1 kt head-wind.
The total landing distance was 2,014 m, representing 52 % of the runway, and the runway rollout alignment was perfect.
After exiting the runway, the aircraft taxied to the parking area in 2 minutes, covering less than 1 nm.
In total, the flight covered 402 nm, required 64 minutes, and consumed 2,721 kg of fuel.
The Boeing 737 MAX 8 approached runway 35L at CYYC Calgary International Airport from the south on a final approach heading 0.0° at 4 nm and 1,290 ft agl. The approach was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope and centreline all within limits.
At the threshold the runway length was 3,860 m and the threshold height was reported as good. The threshold speed was good at 149 kt.
Touchdown occurred 256 m beyond the touchdown zone with a speed of 142 kt, noted as a little fast, and a hard touchdown rate of minus 420 fpm. Runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The aircraft rolled out over a total landing distance of 2,014 m, representing 52 % of the runway, and rollout alignment was perfect.
To improve the already strong score of 90.5 %, attention should be given to reducing touchdown speed slightly and moderating the flare to achieve a softer touchdown rate.
