MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Arrival
Reduce power earlier on the approach so speed is back to 135 kt by the stabilisation gate, not carried into the flare.
What happened: The approach was still fast at the stabilisation gate, crossing the threshold at 143 kt against a VREF of 135 kt, and the flare then held the aircraft off high, arresting the sink early at 17 ft instead of letting it continue down. Carrying excess speed into the flare usually carries the touchdown into a high hold-off rather than a timely let-down.
Watch for: Airspeed indicator against 135 kt at the stabilisation gate and through to the threshold.
Preparing for a stable approach will give you time to decide on whether to attempt the landing or going around. Too much altitude with a high sink rate will result in carrying too much speed onto the runway. Configuring flaps and the gear late also won't help the speed decay.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
At the 1,000 ft gate: gear still up and speed 67 kt FAST on the reference speed of 135 kt.
At the 500 ft gate: speed 16 kt FAST on the reference speed of 135 kt.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,203 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 496 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Cessna Citation Longitude taxied from the parking area to runway 21R at KLSV Nellis Air Force Base, a movement that lasted 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 21R, the aircraft used 1,584 m of runway, representing 51 % of the available length, and lifted off at 140 kt. Ambient conditions were a temperature of 40 °C, wind 12 kt from 190°, with a 6 kt cross-wind component and a 10 kt head-wind component.
Climb commenced overhead Sunrise Manor, Nevada, with the airplane ascending from 2,821 ft asl to 10,739 ft asl, an increase of 7,918 ft achieved in 7 minutes while covering 44 nm.
The first level-cruise segment began 13 miles north-west of the 28DL DOCILF Dry Lake reference point, lasting 2 minutes and extending 12 nm.
Descent started 11 miles north of Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, with the aircraft descending from 10,605 ft asl to 4,297 ft asl, a loss of 6,309 ft in 6 minutes and traversing 28 nm.
A second cruise phase was flown overhead KLAS Harry Reid International Airport, lasting 3 minutes and covering 17 nm.
The final approach to runway 26L at KLAS was executed from the east, on a heading of 270.0°, at 4 nm and 1,008 ft agl.
Landing on runway 26L, which is 3,203 m long, occurred with a threshold speed slightly above target at 144 kt. Touchdown was recorded 83 m beyond the touchdown zone, at a speed of 131 kt and a touchdown rate of minus 206 fpm; the touchdown point was offset 4.5 m from the centreline. Local weather at the time was temperature 40 °C, wind 17 kt from 199°, with a 16 kt cross-wind and a 6 kt head-wind component.
In total, the flight covered 109 nm, required 22 minutes of elapsed time, and consumed 615 kg of fuel.
The Airbus A350-1041 commenced its final approach to runway 26L at KLAS Harry Reid International Airport from the east, tracking a heading of 270.0° at 4 nm and 1,283 ft agl. At the 1,000 ft gate the approach was assessed as stabilised, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope and centreline all within limits, and the prevailing conditions were a temperature of 38 °C, wind 18 kt from 260°, including a 3 kt cross-wind component and an 18 kt head-wind.
During the threshold and flare phase the aircraft maintained a good threshold height and a good threshold speed of 142 kt. The touchdown point was recorded 105 m beyond the touchdown zone.
At touchdown the speed was 136 kt, noted as a little fast, and the vertical rate was fair at minus 209 fpm. The touchdown position was slightly misaligned, being 4.2 m off the centreline.
The rollout covered a total landing distance of 1,380 m, representing 43 % of the 3,203 m runway, and the runway rollout alignment was very good.
Coaching should concentrate on reducing touchdown speed toward the target VREF and ensuring the touchdown point falls within the designated zone, while fine-tuning lateral control to keep the touchdown position within a tighter centreline tolerance.
