Fixing the bounce
Fast at the threshold, normal flare, and the runway seems to refuse the aircraft. The instinctive fix - pushing it on - causes the next one. A fast aircraft forced onto the runway touches nosewheel-first or nearly so. The tell is a touchdown that feels soft followed by a bounce that steepens. Pilots fix the bounce recovery; the cause was the 10 knots at the threshold.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,501 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 58 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Taxiing from the parking area to the runway at ETSN Neuburg Air Base took approximately 4 minutes, covering a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then began its departure roll on runway 27, accelerating to a liftoff speed of 206 knots. The takeoff distance of 531 meters accounted for only 21% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short takeoff roll. Local weather conditions at the time of departure featured a temperature of 32°C, with a wind of 15 knots at 320°, resulting in a crosswind of 11 knots and a headwind of 10 knots.
Following departure, the aircraft initiated an enroute climb from 2,049 feet above sea level to 21,232 feet, a vertical increase of 19,183 feet in just 3 minutes, covering a distance of 18 nautical miles. The climb was followed by a series of enroute descents and climbs, with the aircraft reaching a maximum altitude of 21,232 feet. Notably, the aircraft's climb performance was impressive, with a vertical rate of climb of over 6,400 feet per minute. The enroute level cruise phase lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 9 nautical miles. The aircraft's final approach to runway 27 at ETSN Neuburg Air Base was from the east, with a heading of 265.0° and a touchdown speed of 177 knots.
The aircraft landed on runway 27, with a touchdown distance of 62 meters and a touchdown rate of -725 feet per minute, indicating a relatively heavy touchdown. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centreline by 3.4 meters. Local weather conditions at the time of landing featured a temperature of 28°C, with a wind of 10 knots at 320°, resulting in a crosswind of 8 knots and a headwind of 7 knots. The total flight distance was 132 nautical miles, with a total flight time of 25 minutes and a fuel consumption of 0 kilograms.
The aircraft, GAF30+28, successfully completed a landing on runway 27 at ETSN Neuburg Air Base, demonstrating a good approach quality. The final approach was initiated from the east, heading 265.0°, at a distance of 0 nm and an altitude of -78 ft above ground level. The aircraft maintained a steady descent, with a threshold height that was well within acceptable limits.
As the aircraft touched down on the runway, it achieved a touchdown speed of 177 kt, which was slightly below the threshold speed of 180 kt. The touchdown distance was good, measuring 62 m, and the aircraft's touchdown rate was heavy at -725 fpm. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centreline by 3.4 m, indicating a minor deviation from the desired path. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 28 °C and a wind of 10 kt at 320°, contributed to a crosswind of 8 kt and a headwind of 7 kt.
The overall performance of the aircraft during the landing was satisfactory, with a score of 86.3%. While the heavy touchdown rate and slight misalignment from the centreline were notable, the aircraft's ability to maintain a good approach quality and achieve a satisfactory touchdown distance were positive aspects of the landing.
