Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,693 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 368 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 26 at Katowice Wojciech Korfanty International Airport, with the Airbus A321 taking off after a distance of 1,361 meters, which was 47% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 153 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time were a temperature of -3°C and a wind speed of 3 knots from a direction of 0°.
As the aircraft climbed to its cruising altitude, it passed over Ozarowice in the Silesian Voivodeship, Poland, and continued to ascend to a height of 32,133 feet above sea level. This climb took 16 minutes and covered a distance of 85 nautical miles. The aircraft then leveled off and began its cruise, flying northwest of Stare Mesto in the Olomoucky kraj, Czech Republic, for 13 minutes and covering 79 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began its descent, starting over Celakovice in the Stredocesky kraj, Czech Republic, and continued to descend to a height of 30,221 feet above sea level. This descent took 2 minutes and covered a distance of 10 nautical miles. The aircraft then leveled off again, flying south of Zdiby in the Stredocesky kraj, Czech Republic, for 2 minutes and covering 10 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began another descent, starting over Hrebec in the Stredocesky kraj, Czech Republic, and continued to descend to a height of 4,802 feet above sea level. This descent took 21 minutes and covered a distance of 113 nautical miles. The aircraft then leveled off again, flying east of Simmelsdorf in Bavaria, Germany, for 2 minutes and covering 6 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began another descent, starting east of Kleinsendelbach in Bavaria, Germany, and continued to descend to a height of 4,241 feet above sea level. This descent took 2 minutes and covered a distance of 7 nautical miles. The aircraft then leveled off again, flying north of Erlangen in Bavaria, Germany, for 7 minutes and covering 9 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began its final descent, starting west of Puschendorf in Bavaria, Germany, and continued to descend to a height of 2,313 feet above sea level. This descent took 2 minutes and covered a distance of 6 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 10 at Nuremberg Airport, flying from the west at a heading of 99.0° and at a height of 1,267 feet above ground level.
The aircraft landed on runway 10 at Nuremberg Airport, with a touchdown distance of 367 meters, which was good. The touchdown speed was slightly above the target speed at 139 knots, and the touchdown rate was firm at -346 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the local weather conditions at the time were a temperature of -10°C and a wind speed of 8 knots from a direction of 110°.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area from the runway, taking 2 minutes and covering less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 333 nautical miles, and the flight took 72 minutes to complete. The aircraft used 3,223 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A321 successfully landed at Nuremberg Airport (EDDN) on runway 10, achieving a high score of 98.7%. The aircraft approached the runway from the west, heading 99.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,267 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot's final approach was well-executed, with a good threshold height and a slightly above-target threshold speed of 139 knots.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's performance was satisfactory, with a touchdown distance of 367 meters, which is within the acceptable range. However, the touchdown speed of 133 knots was a little fast, indicating that the pilot may have needed to apply more braking force to slow down the aircraft. The touchdown rate of -346 feet per minute (fpm) was firm, suggesting that the aircraft's wheels made contact with the runway with a moderate amount of force.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of -10°C and a wind speed of 8 knots from a direction of 110°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 knots, while the headwind component was 8 knots, which helped to reduce the aircraft's ground speed and make the landing more stable. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot had maintained a steady course and had not deviated from the centerline of the runway.
The total landing distance of 1,318 meters was 49% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, indicating that the pilot had maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase and had not deviated from the centerline of the runway. Overall, the landing was a success, with the pilot demonstrating good skills and judgment in navigating the aircraft to a safe touchdown.
