Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,459 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,459 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 58 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 8 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, an Airbus A319, then departed from runway 27R at Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,672 meters, which accounted for 46% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 159 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 17 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 2 knots from a direction of 250 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed, it started its enroute climb 1 mile south of College Park, Georgia, and ascended from an altitude of 2,067 feet above sea level to 33,025 feet above sea level, an increase of 30,958 feet, in 14 minutes and covering a distance of 100 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise began 5 miles south of Plains, Georgia, and lasted for 16 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 348 nautical miles.
The enroute descent started 7 miles south of Captiva, Florida, and the aircraft descended from an altitude of 33,052 feet above sea level to 1,268 feet above sea level, a decrease of 31,784 feet, in 17 minutes and covering a distance of 114 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 09 at Key West International Airport was made from the west, with a heading of 83.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,257 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway.
The landing on runway 09 at Key West International Airport was successful, with a touchdown distance of 59 meters, which was good, and a touchdown speed of 125 knots, which was also good. The touchdown rate was firm at -384 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 27 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 3 knots from a direction of 9 degrees.
The total landing distance was 687 meters, which accounted for 47% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect. After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking from the runway, which took 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 570 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 56 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 3,405 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A319 successfully landed at Key West International Airport (KEYW) with a score of 98.3%. The aircraft approached the runway from the west, heading 83.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,257 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was made to runway 09, which has a length of 1,459 meters.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold height was good, indicating that the pilots maintained a safe altitude before touching down on the runway. However, the threshold speed was slightly below the target speed of 128 knots, which is a minor deviation but still within acceptable limits. The touchdown distance of 59 meters was also good, indicating that the pilots managed to slow down the aircraft effectively before touchdown.
The touchdown speed of 125 knots was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -384 feet per minute (fpm) was firm, indicating that the pilots maintained control of the aircraft during the landing. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, which is a critical aspect of a safe landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 27°C and a light wind of 3 knots at 9°. The crosswind component was 3 knots, while the headwind component was 1 knot. These conditions did not pose any significant challenges to the pilots.
The total landing distance of 687 meters was 47% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance. This indicates that the pilots managed to slow down the aircraft effectively and maintain control during the landing. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, which is a testament to the pilots' skill and experience.
Overall, the landing was successful, and the pilots demonstrated excellent skills and control during the approach and landing phases. The score of 98.3% reflects the high level of proficiency and safety demonstrated by the pilots during this landing.
