MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,561 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 406 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight took place from Paris-Orly Airport, LFPO, to Nice-Côte d'Azur Airport, LFMN. Upon departure from runway 07, the aircraft, an RJ85, rolled out to a distance of 1,237 meters, which represents 43% of the runway.
As the aircraft lifted off, it encountered a local weather condition of 12°C temperature and winds of 10 kt at 27°. The crosswind and headwind were both 7 kt, making the wind's overall impact minimal on the takeoff. The liftoff speed was 140 kt.
After departure, the aircraft climbed to an altitude of 28,507 ft asl over Villeneuve-le-Roi. This climb involved a significant vertical gain, reaching a total of 27,210 ft in just 18 minutes and covering 95 nm. Following this climb, the aircraft levelled to cruise altitude as it flew over La Chapelle-Montlinard, staying in this configuration for 26 minutes while covering 191 nm.
The enroute descent phase started above Nyons, and the aircraft descended 27,346 ft to 1,307 ft asl, a decrease of 27,346 ft, in 21 minutes, covering 97 nm. This marked the final stage of the flight's enroute segment.
The descent ultimately led to the final approach to runway 04L at LFMN, where the aircraft aligned with the heading of 45.0° from the southwest before initiating the landing procedure. The aircraft touched down at 108 kt, with a decent touchdown distance of 407 meters.
The local weather upon landing featured a temperature of 16°C and winds of 9 kt at 350°, with minimal crosswind and headwind. Although the touchdown speed and distance were within parameters, the touchdown rate was considered fair at -298 fpm. Furthermore, the runway touchdown position was slightly offset from the centreline.
Following a successful landing, the runway rollout alignment was deemed very good. The total landing distance covered 894 meters, which accounted for 35% of the 2,561-meter runway. Taxiing to the parking took just 3 minutes and was completed within 1 nm.
Throughout the flight, the RJ85 aircraft used a total of 2,580 kg of fuel while covering a total distance of 392 nm, concluding the journey in 76 minutes.
The RJ85 aircraft successfully landed on runway 04L at LFMN Nice-Côte d'Azur Airport, scoring a high rating of 96.7%. During the landing approach, the aircraft was heading 45.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway and an altitude of 1,286 feet above ground level (agl). This approach trajectory suggests a precision approach was executed from a southwest direction, utilizing the available runway length and minimizing deviations from the planned path.
The aircraft landed safely at a speed of 116 knots, which matches the target threshold speed, indicating good control and stability. The touchdown distance, measured at 407 meters, also falls within acceptable limits. Similarly, the touchdown speed was recorded at 108 knots, which is within the desired range, signifying that the aircraft was well-controlled during the final stages of descent. However, there was a notable discrepancy in the touchdown rate, which was slightly higher than average at an estimated -298 feet per minute (fpm). Nevertheless, this rate still falls within the boundaries of a safe and controlled landing.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned, by approximately 4.3 meters from the centerline, which might necessitate minor adjustments to the landing approach procedure. Notwithstanding this deviation, the aircraft successfully came to a stop after a total landing distance of 894 meters, accounting for approximately 35% of the available runway length. This relatively short stopping distance underscores the proficiency of the pilots and the responsiveness of the aircraft to steering and braking inputs.
The landing rollout was notably accurate, with the aircraft remaining well-aligned with the runway centerline. Given the existing weather conditions, featuring a relatively calm atmosphere with a temperature of 16°C and a crosswind of 7 knots, the pilots managed the landing procedure effectively. Ultimately, the safe and controlled landing of the RJ85 aircraft at LFMN Nice-Côte d'Azur Airport underscores the expertise of the pilots, the capabilities of the aircraft, and the efficiency of the air traffic control system.
