Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 9,316 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,426 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Cessna CJ4 Citation, then departed from runway 03 at KFOE Topeka Regional Airport. The takeoff distance was 2,110 feet, which is 30% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 145 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 61°F and a wind speed of 2 knots from a direction of 270°. The crosswind was 2 knots, and the tailwind was 1 knot. The aircraft began its enroute climb 1 mile northeast of KFOE Topeka Regional Airport, rising from an altitude of 2,090 feet above sea level to 19,874 feet above sea level in 7 minutes, covering a distance of 20 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 1 mile south of Vassar, Kansas, and lasted for 43 minutes, covering a distance of 281 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent 2 miles east of OL27 Faith Field Marietta, Oklahoma, descending from 20,007 feet above sea level to 3,518 feet above sea level in 12 minutes, covering a distance of 59 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise resumed 2 miles east of 0TS1 Dooley Airport Justin, Texas, and lasted for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 9 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 13R at KDFW Dallas Fort Worth International Airport was made from the northwest, heading 139.0° at an altitude of 1,291 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway.
The landing on runway 13R was successful, with a touchdown distance of 1,428 feet and a touchdown speed of 98 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was fair at -241 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 59°F and a wind speed of 2 knots from a direction of 270°, with a crosswind of 2 knots and a tailwind of 1 knot.
The total landing distance was 2,736 feet, which is 29% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, and the aircraft was able to taxi to the parking area in 2 minutes, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 378 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 72 minutes. Notably, the aircraft used 0 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Cessna CJ4 Citation successfully landed on runway 13R at KDFW Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, achieving a high score of 99.2%. The aircraft approached the runway from the northwest, heading 139.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,291 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot demonstrated excellent control and precision during the final approach, resulting in a good threshold height.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold speed was significantly above the target speed, reaching 106 knots. This indicates that the pilot had sufficient control and was able to maintain a safe speed during the landing. The touchdown distance of 1,428 feet was also within acceptable limits, demonstrating the pilot's ability to manage the aircraft's descent and speed.
However, the touchdown speed of 98 knots was slightly faster than desired, which may have resulted in a slightly higher touchdown rate of -241 feet per minute (fpm). Despite this, the runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot had maintained control and alignment throughout the landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 59°F and a light wind of 2 knots from 270°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 knots, and the tailwind component was even weaker at 1 knot. These conditions likely contributed to the smooth and controlled nature of the landing.
The total landing distance of 2,736 feet was 29% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, indicating that the pilot had maintained control and alignment throughout the landing roll.
Overall, the Cessna CJ4 Citation's landing on runway 13R at KDFW Dallas Fort Worth International Airport was a success, with the pilot demonstrating excellent control and precision throughout the approach and landing.
