Flight Score
Smooth the climb
Pull to 15 degrees at one rate and you get a clean liftoff, pull to the same 15 degrees at twice the rate and you get an overshoot, a push, and an oscillation through the first few hundred feet. The type-general rule of thumb is a rotation rate of about 2 to 3 degrees per second, which means roughly five to seven seconds from starting the pull to reaching the initial climb attitude of around 15 degrees nose-up. Count it out loud during your next takeoff and you will almost certainly discover you have been rotating in two seconds flat.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,203 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 364 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A319, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport, which took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 24L, and the takeoff distance was 1,220 meters, which is 46% of the runway length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 147 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to its cruising altitude, it encountered local weather conditions of 12°C temperature and a wind speed of 10 knots at 330°. The crosswind was 10 knots, and the headwind was 1 knot. The enroute climb started 1 mile south west of the airport and took 19 minutes to reach an altitude of 36,898 feet, an increase of 35,834 feet from the initial altitude of 1,064 feet. During this climb, the aircraft covered a distance of 118 nautical miles.
Once the aircraft reached its cruising altitude, it began its level cruise, which started 6 miles south east of Castellon de la Plana Aerodrome. This phase of the flight lasted 27 minutes and covered a distance of 202 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started 1 mile south east of Larva, and took 22 minutes to descend from 36,930 feet to 1,328 feet, a decrease of 35,603 feet. During this descent, the aircraft covered a distance of 90 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 31 at Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport was made from the south east, heading 312.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,274 feet above ground level. The landing took place on a runway with a length of 3,203 meters, and the threshold height was good. The threshold speed was also good at 127 knots, and the touchdown distance was 364 meters. The touchdown speed was 120 knots, and the touchdown rate was -174 feet per minute, which was good. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the local weather conditions were 11°C temperature and a wind speed of 5 knots at 310°, with a crosswind of 0 knots and a headwind of 5 knots.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, which took 2 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 418 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 83 minutes. The aircraft used 2,886 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A319 successfully landed at Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport, achieving a remarkable score of 99.8%. The aircraft approached the runway from the southeast, heading 312.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,274 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot's final approach was precise, setting the stage for a smooth touchdown.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on runway 31, which has a length of 3,203 meters. The threshold height was satisfactory, and the threshold speed of 127 knots was also within acceptable limits. The touchdown distance of 364 meters was well within the expected range, and the touchdown speed of 120 knots was also good. The rate of descent at touchdown was -174 feet per minute, which is considered a safe and controlled rate.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 11°C and a gentle wind of 5 knots from 310°. This resulted in a negligible crosswind component of 0 knots and a moderate headwind of 5 knots. The total landing distance of 1,211 meters was only 38% of the runway length, indicating a short and controlled rollout.
The rollout alignment of the aircraft was perfect, demonstrating the pilot's skill and control during the landing phase. Overall, the landing was a textbook example of a well-executed approach and touchdown, with the aircraft coming to rest on the runway in a safe and controlled manner.
