MY FS FLIGHTS

Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,976 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,976 m of the 4,113 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,186 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a quick taxiing process from the parking area to the runway, taking less than 1 minute and covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The Boeing 737-BBJ then departed from runway 36 at SEQM Mariscal Sucre International Airport in Quito, Ecuador. The takeoff distance was 2,165 meters, which accounted for 53% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 151 knots, with a local temperature of 19°C and wind conditions of 3 knots at 77°.
As the aircraft climbed out of the airport, it began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile north of the airport and reaching an altitude of 18,007 feet above sea level. The climb was a significant 9,061 feet in just 9 minutes, covering a distance of 37 nautical miles. The aircraft then transitioned into a level cruise, starting 13 miles north of the SEQU Mariscal Sucre Air Base and lasting 3 minutes, covering 16 nautical miles.
The enroute descent began 6 miles west of the SEQU Mariscal Sucre Air Base, with the aircraft descending from 17,624 feet to 14,222 feet in just 3 minutes, covering 14 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered another level cruise, starting 6 miles west of Sangolqui and lasting 2 minutes, covering 7 nautical miles. The final descent began 5 miles northeast of Machachi, with the aircraft descending from 14,205 feet to 9,290 feet in 6 minutes, covering 25 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 36 at SEQM Mariscal Sucre International Airport was from the south, with the aircraft heading 358.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,442 feet above ground level. The landing was successful, with the touchdown point being 788 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 148 knots, which was good, and the touchdown rate was firm at -336 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, despite the local weather conditions of 17°C and a wind of 7 knots at 160°.
The total landing distance was 1,913 meters, which accounted for 47% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, and the aircraft taxied to the parking area from the runway in 4 minutes, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 106 nautical miles, taking 31 minutes, and the aircraft used 11,093 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-BBJ successfully landed at Mariscal Sucre International Airport, achieving an overall score of 81.2%. The aircraft approached the runway from the south, heading 358.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,442 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with precision, with the aircraft maintaining a steady course and speed.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on runway 36, which has a length of 4,113 meters. The threshold height at 157 feet agl was found to be excessively over target, indicating that the aircraft may have been slightly high during the approach. However, the threshold speed of 162 knots was within the acceptable range, demonstrating good control and management of the aircraft's descent.
The touchdown point was located 788 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively long distance. Despite this, the touchdown speed of 148 knots was still within the acceptable range, indicating that the aircraft was able to maintain control and stability during the landing. The touchdown rate of -336 feet per minute (fpm) was firm, suggesting that the aircraft may have been slightly hard on the landing.
The runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway and that the pilot had good control over the aircraft's descent. The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 17°C and a wind speed of 7 knots at 160°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 knots, while the tailwind component was 6 knots.
The total landing distance of 1,913 meters was 47% of the runway length, which is a relatively long distance. However, the runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was able to maintain control and stability during the rollout phase of the landing. Overall, the landing was executed with good control and precision, despite some minor deviations from the target parameters.
