Fixing the bounce
Fast at the threshold, normal flare, and the runway seems to refuse the aircraft. The instinctive fix - pushing it on - causes the next one. A fast aircraft forced onto the runway touches nosewheel-first or nearly so. The tell is a touchdown that feels soft followed by a bounce that steepens. Pilots fix the bounce recovery; the cause was the 10 knots at the threshold.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,692 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 590 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 10 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Citation CJ3+ with the registration N60US, then departed from runway 17 at UBBB Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku, Azerbaijan. The takeoff distance was 413 meters, which accounted for 13% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 113 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 20 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 15 knots at 150 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 8 knots and a headwind of 13 knots. The aircraft climbed from 1,003 feet above sea level to 8,292 feet above sea level, an increase of 7,289 feet, in just 3 minutes and covering 9 nautical miles.
The enroute climb started again 5 miles south east of Badamdar, Baku City, Azerbaijan, and continued to 42,700 feet above sea level, an increase of 34,431 feet, in 15 minutes and covering 57 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered a level cruise, lasting 43 minutes and covering 674 nautical miles, 3 miles south east of Shamakhi, Azerbaijan. This was followed by a descent from 43,320 feet above sea level to 7,400 feet above sea level, a decrease of 35,920 feet, in 23 minutes and covering 156 nautical miles, 8 miles east of Tarsus, Turkey.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, lasting 3 minutes and covering 12 nautical miles, overhead Arakapas, Cyprus. A descent from 6,852 feet above sea level to 1,328 feet above sea level, a decrease of 5,524 feet, in 6 minutes and covering 17 nautical miles, 1 mile north east of Kantou, Cyprus, followed. The final approach to runway 29 at LCPH Paphos International Airport was made from the east, heading 290.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,282 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 29 at LCPH Paphos International Airport was successful, with a touchdown point 279 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 84 knots, and the touchdown rate was perfect at -11 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.2 meters from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 23 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 7 knots at 150 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 4 knots and a tailwind of 5 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,211 meters, which accounted for 45% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 10.8 meters from the centreline. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took less than 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 937 nautical miles, taking 110 minutes, and the aircraft used 1,545 kilograms of fuel.
The Citation CJ3+ aircraft, registered as N60US, successfully landed at Paphos International Airport (LCPH) with a score of 82.2%. The final approach was initiated from the east, heading 290.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,282 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft was approaching runway 29, which has a length of 2,692 meters.
Upon reaching the threshold, the aircraft's height was above the target, indicating a slightly higher than desired approach. However, the threshold speed of 92 knots was well below the target, necessitating caution to avoid stalling the aircraft. The pilots successfully managed to maintain control and bring the aircraft down safely.
The touchdown point was 279 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which may indicate a slight over-shooting. Nevertheless, the touchdown speed of 84 knots was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -11 feet per minute (fpm) was perfect, indicating a smooth and controlled descent.
During the landing, the aircraft experienced a crosswind of 4 knots and a tailwind of 5 knots, which may have contributed to the slight misalignment of the runway touchdown position by 9.2 meters from the centerline. The total landing distance of 1,211 meters was 45% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight.
After touchdown, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 10.8 meters from the centerline, indicating a minor deviation from the desired path. Overall, the landing was successful, and the pilots demonstrated good control and management of the aircraft throughout the approach and landing phases.
