Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,895 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,895 m of the 3,595 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 751 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Airbus A320 taxied from the parking area to runway 34 at LGMK Mykonos Island National Airport in 4 minutes, covering approximately 1 nm during the taxi-out.
During the departure roll on runway 34, the aircraft used 1,257 m of runway, representing 66 % of the available length, and lifted off at 146 kt; ambient conditions were 32 °C with a wind of 11 kt from 359°, a 4 kt cross-wind component and a 10 kt head-wind.
Climb commenced overhead Mykonos, rising from 1,315 ft asl to 32,009 ft asl - a gain of 30,694 ft - in 19 minutes while traversing 128 nm.
Cruise began 1 mile north-east of Kiato in the Peloponnese and continued for 85 minutes, during which the aircraft covered 647 nm at level flight.
Descent was initiated over Sebeborci, Moravske Toplice, Slovenia, descending from 32,012 ft asl to 1,766 ft asl - a loss of 30,246 ft - in 17 minutes and spanning 94 nm.
The final approach to runway 34 at LOWW Vienna International Airport was flown from the south on a heading of 344.0°, intercepting the glide path at 4 nm and 1,166 ft agl.
Landing on runway 34 was achieved with a threshold speed of 140 kt, slightly above the target; touchdown occurred 336 m beyond the touchdown zone at 131 kt and a vertical speed of minus 138 fpm, with perfect alignment and a total landing roll of 1,816 m, equivalent to 51 % of the runway.
Runway rollout alignment remained perfect throughout the deceleration phase.
The aircraft taxied from the runway to the parking stand in 2 minutes, covering less than 1 nm on the taxi-in.
Overall, the flight covered 877 nm, lasted 130 minutes, and consumed 5,603 kg of fuel.
The final approach to runway 34 at LOWW Vienna International Airport was stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope and centreline all within limits. The aircraft was on a heading of 344.0° at 4 nm and 1,166 ft agl, encountering a temperature of 29 °C, a head-wind of 3 kt, a cross-wind of 1 kt and a wind direction of 0°.
At the threshold the speed was slightly above target at 140 kt and the touchdown speed was a little fast at 131 kt. The flare produced a smooth touchdown rate of minus 138 fpm.
Touchdown occurred 336 m beyond the touchdown zone, with runway alignment perfect and a total landing distance of 1,816 m, representing 51 % of the 3,595 m runway.
The rollout continued with perfect alignment along the runway centreline.
Reduce the threshold and touchdown speeds to meet the target values and aim to touch down nearer the 300 m (1,000 ft) aim point to keep the landing distance comfortably within runway limits.
