Monitor your taxi speed
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,484 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 262 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at London Gatwick Airport, taking 11 minutes and covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft then departed from runway 26L, with a takeoff distance of 1,049 meters, which accounted for 42% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 154 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it encountered local weather conditions of 20°C temperature and a wind speed of 4 knots at 310°. The crosswind was 4 knots, while the headwind was 3 knots. The enroute climb started overhead Charlwood in Surrey, England, and the aircraft ascended from 1,247 feet above sea level to 29,109 feet above sea level, an increase of 27,862 feet in 13 minutes, covering a distance of 64 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 19 miles northwest of Veulettes-sur-Mer in Normandie, France, and lasted for 41 minutes, covering a distance of 281 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent overhead Faucogney-et-la-Mer in Bourgogne-Franche-Comte, France, descending from 29,161 feet above sea level to 2,822 feet above sea level, a decrease of 26,339 feet in 24 minutes, covering a distance of 88 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 28 at Zürich Airport was made from the east, heading 276.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,412 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 28 was successful, with a touchdown distance of 261 meters, which was good. The touchdown speed was 146 knots, which was fast, and the touchdown rate was hard at -431 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions at Zürich Airport were 17°C temperature and a wind speed of 9 knots at 250°. The crosswind was 4 knots, while the headwind was 9 knots. The total landing distance was 1,312 meters, which accounted for 53% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also very good. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took 4 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile.
In total, the flight distance was 441 nautical miles, taking 92 minutes, and the aircraft used 3,587 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A320 aircraft successfully landed at Zürich Airport (LSZH) on runway 28, achieving a score of 93.7%. The final approach was initiated from the east, heading 276.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,412 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach to the runway was precise, with a good threshold height and a well-aligned runway touchdown.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was slightly above the target threshold speed of 150 knots, registering at 150 kt. However, the touchdown speed of 146 kt was considered fast, indicating that the aircraft may have touched down slightly ahead of the optimal point. The touchdown rate of -431 feet per minute (fpm) was also deemed hard, suggesting that the aircraft may have experienced a slight jolt upon touchdown.
Despite these minor issues, the aircraft's landing distance of 261 meters was considered good, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 17°C and a moderate headwind of 9 knots at 250°. The crosswind component was minimal, at 4 knots.
The total landing distance of 1,312 meters was 53% of the runway length, indicating that the aircraft had sufficient stopping distance to safely come to a halt. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, suggesting that the aircraft's brakes were applied smoothly and effectively.
Overall, the Airbus A320's landing at Zürich Airport was a successful one, with the aircraft demonstrating good control and precision throughout the approach and touchdown phases. However, there is room for improvement in terms of touchdown speed and rate to ensure a smoother and more optimal landing experience.
