Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,814 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,814 m of the 2,959 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 599 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Boeing 777-200ER taxied from the parking area to runway 01 at ZBAA, a movement that required 10 minutes and covered 3 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 01, the aircraft accelerated through a takeoff distance of 1,564 m, 41 % of the runway, and lifted off at 154 kt. Local conditions were 26 °C with a wind of 3 kt from 124°, a cross-wind component of 3 kt and a tail-wind component of 2 kt.
Climb commenced 1 mile north-east of ZBAA, with the airplane climbing from 1,311 ft asl to 38,949 ft asl, an altitude gain of 37,638 ft achieved in 23 minutes while covering 167 nm.
The first cruise segment began 45 miles south of ZBDH and persisted for 259 minutes, during which the aircraft travelled 970 nm at level flight.
A descent segment started 2 m
The final approach to runway 16L at RJTT Tokyo Haneda International Airport was flown from the north-west on a heading of 150.0° at 4 nm and 1,296 ft agl, with temperature 31 °C, wind 8 kt from 170°, a 3 kt cross-wind component and an 8 kt head-wind component.
At the threshold the aircraft was 105 ft agl, which was excessively over target, while the threshold speed was good at 136 kt.
Touchdown occurred 535 m beyond the designated touchdown zone; the speed was 129 kt, a little fast, and the vertical rate was smooth at minus 139 fpm. The touchdown point was slightly misaligned by 4.0 m from the centreline.
The aircraft required a total landing distance of 2,085 m, representing 62 % of the 3,351 m runway, and the rollout alignment was very good.
With an overall score of 81.0 %, focus on reducing the excess threshold height and achieving a touchdown within the zone at the target speed to tighten the landing envelope.
