Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 4,134 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 478 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The 1.72 G arrival is the firm side of smooth.
The rest of the report
The Airbus A330-900 taxied from the parking area to runway 09 at WADD Ngurah Rai International Airport, a movement that lasted 52 minutes and covered 6 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 09, the aircraft accelerated to a liftoff speed of 182 kt and departed after traveling 1,674 m, representing 56 % of the runway length. Local conditions were a temperature of 33 °C, wind 16 kt at 120 °, an 8 kt crosswind component and a 13 kt headwind.
Climb commenced 1 mile southeast of Kuta, with the airplane ascending from 933 ft asl to 36,001 ft asl, a gain of 35,068 ft achieved in 31 minutes while covering 198 nm.
The first level cruise began 16 miles northwest of WART Trunojoyo Airport and continued for 97 minutes, during which the aircraft flew 820 nm at cruise altitude.
Descent started 8 miles east of Parit Raja, Malaysia, with a reduction from 36,003 ft asl to 4,883 ft asl, a loss of 31,120 ft over 22 minutes and a distance of 138 nm.
A subsequent level cruise segment originated 1 mile northeast of Banting, Selangor, lasting 5 minutes and covering 20 nm.
The next descent began 1 mile west of Putra Heights, Selangor, descending from 4,493 ft asl to 1,317 ft asl, a decrease of 3,176 ft in
The Airbus A330-900 executed a final approach to runway 14L at WMKK Kuala Lumpur International Airport from the north-west, on a heading of 146.0° at 4 nm and 1,261 ft agl. Local weather was 33 °C with wind 6 kt from 28°, a 5 kt crosswind component and a 3 kt tailwind component. The approach was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope and centreline all within limits.
At threshold the aircraft was 66 ft agl, a height above target, and the threshold speed was 144 kt, slightly above target.
Touchdown occurred 406 m down the runway, a good distance, with a speed of 142 kt, a little fast, and a heavy touchdown rate of minus 697 fpm. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 8.9 m from the centreline.
The total landing distance was 1,315 m, representing 32 % of the runway length, and the rollout alignment was misaligned by 18.9 m from the centreline.
To refine future landings, focus on moderating the flare to reduce the heavy touchdown rate and on maintaining tighter centreline alignment through touchdown and rollout. Keeping the touchdown speed nearer to target will also help achieve a smoother, more controlled landing.
