Fixing the bounce
Fast at the threshold, normal flare, and the runway seems to refuse the aircraft. The instinctive fix - pushing it on - causes the next one. A fast aircraft forced onto the runway touches nosewheel-first or nearly so. The tell is a touchdown that feels soft followed by a bounce that steepens. Pilots fix the bounce recovery; the cause was the 10 knots at the threshold.

One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: six checks at the point nearest 500 ft above the runway after the base turn. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,293 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,293 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 274 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Reichelsheim Airfield (EDFB), the Extra 330 aircraft initiated its departure roll on runway 36, accelerating to a liftoff speed of 79 kt in a distance of 265 m, which accounted for 22% of the available runway length. The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff featured a temperature of 13 °C and a gentle headwind of 4 kt from a direction of 354 °.
As the aircraft entered the traffic pattern, it proceeded to complete a left-hand circuit, with the downwind turn executed at an angle of 70.2 ° to the runway. The subsequent base leg turn was conducted at an angle of 51.4 °, allowing the aircraft to align itself with the runway for the final approach. The pilot successfully executed a final turn, positioning the aircraft for a southbound approach to runway 36. The landing was characterized by a threshold speed that exceeded the target value, with a touchdown speed of 67 kt and a touchdown rate of -88 fpm, both of which were considered excellent.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft came to rest at a distance of 272 m from the threshold, with a runway touchdown position that was slightly misaligned by 3.2 m from the centreline. The total landing distance of 787 m accounted for 64% of the available runway length, while the runway rollout alignment was deemed perfect. The aircraft's fuel consumption during the flight was 2 kg, and the total flight distance was 7 nm, which was completed in 4 minutes.
The aircraft touched down on runway 36 at EDFB Reichelsheim Airfield with a good threshold height, allowing for a controlled descent. The threshold speed was well above the target, indicating a cautious approach, and was recorded at 78 kt. The touchdown distance was satisfactory at 272 m, and the touchdown speed of 67 kt was within acceptable limits. The touchdown rate of -88 fpm was particularly impressive, demonstrating excellent control and precision.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.2 m from the centreline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the approach or a minor issue with the aircraft's directional control. However, the local weather conditions, with a temperature of 12 °C and a gentle headwind of 5 kt, were generally favourable for the landing. The aircraft's performance was further enhanced by the absence of any crosswind.
The aircraft's rollout was executed flawlessly, with perfect alignment on the runway. The total landing distance of 787 m was 64% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing distance. Overall, the landing was deemed satisfactory, with a score of 95.5%. The pilot's ability to maintain control and precision throughout the approach, touchdown, and rollout phases was evident, and the aircraft's performance was commensurate with the conditions.
