Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,132 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 193 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a quick taxi from the parking area to the runway, taking less than a minute and covering a distance of less than a nautical mile. The aircraft, a Tecnam P2006T MKII, then departed from runway 12 at LIPE Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport. The takeoff distance was 421 meters, which is 20% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 80 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 16°C and a wind speed of 4 knots from 270°.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb, which started overhead the airport. The climb took 6 minutes to reach an altitude of 6,012 feet above sea level, an increase of 4,886 feet from the initial altitude of 1,126 feet. The climb covered a distance of 9 nautical miles. The local weather conditions during the climb were the same as at departure.
After reaching the desired altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise, which started 1 mile north east of Bentivoglio. This cruise phase lasted for 20 minutes and covered a distance of 14 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started 2 miles south west of Medicina-Buda. The descent took 2 minutes to reduce the altitude from 4,653 feet to 3,059 feet, a decrease of 1,594 feet. The descent covered a distance of 3 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 1 mile north east of Ozzano dell'Emilia. This cruise phase lasted for 4 minutes and covered a distance of 6 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 30 at LIPE Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport, approaching from the south east. The aircraft was at an altitude of 1,532 feet above ground level and was 4 nautical miles from the runway.
The landing was successful, with a touchdown speed of 58 knots and a touchdown distance of 190 meters, which is 13% of the runway length. The touchdown rate was perfect at -27 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was also perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 15°C and a wind speed of 4 knots from 270°.
The total landing distance was 287 meters, and the runway rollout alignment was also perfect. The total flight distance was 37 nautical miles, and the flight took 37 minutes to complete. The aircraft used 19 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Tecnam P2006T MKII aircraft successfully landed at LIPE Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport, achieving a perfect score of 100.0%. The final approach to runway 30 was conducted from the south east, with a heading of 297.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,532 feet above ground level.
The aircraft's approach and landing were characterized by good threshold height, threshold speed, and touchdown distance. The threshold speed was maintained at 68 knots, which is an optimal speed for landing, and the touchdown distance of 190 meters was well within the acceptable range. The touchdown speed of 58 knots was also satisfactory, indicating a smooth and controlled descent.
The landing rate of -27 feet per minute was perfect, demonstrating a precise and controlled touchdown. The runway touchdown alignment was also perfect, indicating that the aircraft was aligned with the runway centerline at the moment of touchdown. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 15°C and a wind speed of 4 knots from 270°, did not pose any significant challenges to the landing.
The crosswind component was minimal at 2 knots, while the headwind component was 4 knots, which helped to stabilize the aircraft during the approach and landing. The total landing distance of 287 meters was only 13% of the runway length, indicating a very short landing roll. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, demonstrating a smooth and controlled rollout after touchdown.
Overall, the landing of the Tecnam P2006T MKII at LIPE Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport was a textbook example of a perfect landing, with all parameters well within the acceptable range. The pilot's skills and experience were evident in the smooth and controlled approach and landing, which resulted in a safe and efficient touchdown.
