MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 6,693 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,728 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 33 at KASE Aspen-Pitkin County Airport (Sardy Field), where the Vision Jet took off with a takeoff distance of 2,738 ft, which is 39% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 95 kt, and the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 62 °F and a wind speed of 1 kt at 269°.
As the aircraft climbed out of the airport, it began its enroute climb 1 mile northwest of KASE Aspen-Pitkin County Airport, rising from 8,454 ft to 26,009 ft in 13 minutes, covering a distance of 37 nm. This marked the end of the initial climb phase, and the aircraft entered a level cruise phase 16 miles south of 2CD4 West Divide Airport, where it remained for 7 minutes, covering 36 nm.
The aircraft then began its enroute descent 3 miles east of 1CO4 Clifford Field Olathe, descending from 26,008 ft to 12,997 ft in 9 minutes, covering 39 nm. Following this descent, the aircraft entered another level cruise phase 6 miles southwest of Norwood, where it remained for 7 minutes, covering 11 nm.
The final descent phase began 6 miles southwest of CO68 Frederick-Firestone F.S. #2 Heliport, where the aircraft descended from 12,623 ft to 10,054 ft in 4 minutes, covering 8 nm. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 09 at KTEX Telluride Regional Airport from the west, heading 109.0° at 1 nm and 998 ft above ground level.
The landing on runway 09 at KTEX Telluride Regional Airport was characterized by a touchdown point 311 ft beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 70 kt, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was hard at -459 fpm, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 14 ft from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 59 °F and a wind speed of 1 kt at 270°.
The total landing distance was 2,360 ft, which is 35% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good, and the aircraft taxied to the parking area from the runway in 1 minute, covering less than 1 nm. The total flight distance was 135 nm, and the flight duration was 45 minutes, with a fuel consumption of 261 lbs.
The Vision Jet aircraft successfully landed at KTEX Telluride Regional Airport, achieving an overall score of 85.7%. The final approach to runway 09 was initiated from the west, with a heading of 109.0° at 1 nautical mile and 998 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft successfully touched down on the runway, which has a length of 6,693 feet.
However, there were some areas for improvement during the landing. The threshold height at 67 feet agl was above the target, indicating that the aircraft may have been slightly high on its approach. Additionally, the threshold speed was well above the target at 79 knots, suggesting that the pilot may have been applying too much power or not enough braking during the approach.
The touchdown point was 311 feet beyond the touchdown zone, which is slightly outside the designated area. The touchdown speed of 70 knots was a little fast, and the touchdown rate was hard at -459 feet per minute (fpm). This may have been due to the pilot not fully extending the landing gear or not applying enough braking during the touchdown.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 14 feet from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the pilot's alignment during the approach. Despite this, the runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot was able to maintain control of the aircraft during the rollout.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 59°F and a wind speed of 1 knot from 270°. There was no crosswind, but a slight tailwind of 1 knot was present. The total landing distance was 2,360 feet, which is 35% of the runway length. Overall, while there were some areas for improvement, the pilot was able to successfully land the Vision Jet at KTEX Telluride Regional Airport.
