Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,290 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 386 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 02 at RPVI Iloilo International Airport, a Boeing 737-MAX8 aircraft taking to the skies. The takeoff distance was 1,339 meters, which accounted for 53% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 161 knots, and the local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 28 degrees Celsius and a gentle wind of 9 knots at 7 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed, it started its enroute climb 1 mile south east of Cabatuan, in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines. The climb was steep, with the aircraft rising from 1,187 feet above sea level to 13,351 feet in just 6 minutes, covering a distance of 12 nautical miles. This marked the beginning of the enroute level cruise, which started overhead Barotac Nuevo and lasted for 8 minutes, covering a distance of 34 nautical miles.
The enroute descent began 11 miles south west of Paraiso, with the aircraft descending from 13,390 feet to 2,245 feet in 11 minutes, covering a distance of 47 nautical miles. The descent was followed by another enroute level cruise, which started 4 miles south of Talisay and lasted for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 04 at RPVM Mactan Cebu International Airport was made from the south west, with the aircraft heading at 44.0 degrees at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,153 feet above ground level. The landing was smooth, with the aircraft touching down on the runway at a speed of 131 knots and a touchdown distance of 389 meters, which was 40% of the runway length.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were similar to those at departure, with a temperature of 27 degrees Celsius and a wind of 9 knots at 290 degrees. The crosswind was 8 knots, and the tailwind was 4 knots. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 7.2 meters. The runway rollout alignment was very good, and the taxiing to the parking area took just 1 minute, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 107 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 32 minutes. The aircraft used 1,489 kilograms of fuel during the flight. Overall, the flight was smooth and uneventful, with the aircraft performing well under various weather conditions.
The Boeing 737-MAX8 aircraft successfully landed at RPVM Mactan Cebu International Airport, achieving a high score of 96.1%. The final approach to runway 04 was conducted from the southwest, with a heading of 44.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,153 feet above ground level.
The aircraft touched down on the runway with a good threshold height, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 137 knots. The touchdown distance of 389 meters was within acceptable limits, and the touchdown speed of 131 knots was also good. However, the touchdown rate was slightly firm at -371 feet per minute, indicating a relatively steep descent.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 7.2 meters, which may require some adjustments during future landings. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 27°C, with a wind speed of 9 knots from a direction of 290°. The crosswind component was 8 knots, while the tailwind component was 4 knots.
The total landing distance of 1,321 meters was 40% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was able to maintain a stable and controlled descent during the landing phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, and the aircraft was able to touch down safely on the runway. However, the slight misalignment of the touchdown position and the firm touchdown rate may require some adjustments during future landings to ensure optimal performance and safety.
