MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,096 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 251 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Embraer E170 aircraft took off from Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport, located at FIMP, on runway 14. The taxiing process from the parking to the runway took 6 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The takeoff distance was 1,179 meters, which is 39% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 157 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 33 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 12 knots at 59 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed, it started its enroute climb 1 mile south of Beau Vallon in the Grand Port District of Mauritius. The climb took 20 minutes, during which the aircraft ascended from 1,172 feet above sea level to 35,408 feet above sea level, an increase of 34,236 feet. The distance covered during this climb was 109 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 45 miles north of Sainte-Suzanne in Reunion, Réunion, and lasted for 46 minutes. During this period, the aircraft covered a distance of 363 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent 20 miles southeast of Andovoranto in the Atsinanana Region of Madagascar. The descent took 18 minutes, during which the aircraft descended from 35,383 feet above sea level to 5,226 feet above sea level, a decrease of 30,156 feet. The distance covered during this descent was 107 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 29 at Ivato Airport, located at FMMI, was made from the east, heading 279.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,065 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 29 was successful, with a touchdown distance of 251 meters, which is good. However, the touchdown speed of 117 knots was a little fast, and the touchdown rate was firm at -331 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 29 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 10 knots at 330 degrees. The crosswind was 8 knots, and the headwind was 6 knots. The total landing distance was 786 meters, which is 25% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 10.4 meters from the centerline. The taxiing process from the runway to the parking took 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 586 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 90 minutes. The aircraft used 1,886 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Embraer E170 aircraft successfully landed at FMMI Ivato Airport, achieving a score of 95.7%. The final approach to runway 29 was conducted from the east, heading 279.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,065 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach was well-executed, with a good threshold height and a threshold speed that was well above the target at 122 knots.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's performance was satisfactory, with a touchdown distance of 251 meters, which was within acceptable limits. However, the touchdown speed of 117 knots was slightly faster than desired, indicating that the pilots may have needed to apply more braking or reverse thrust to slow the aircraft down more quickly. The touchdown rate of -331 feet per minute (fpm) was firm, suggesting that the aircraft's wheels made contact with the runway with a moderate amount of force.
The runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the pilots had successfully aligned the aircraft with the runway centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 29°C and a wind speed of 10 knots from 330°. The crosswind component was 8 knots, while the headwind component was 6 knots, which may have required the pilots to make some adjustments to their approach and landing technique.
The total landing distance of 786 meters was 25% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 10.4 meters from the centerline, indicating that the pilots may have needed to make some adjustments to their braking and steering inputs to maintain alignment with the runway centerline. Overall, the landing was successful, and the aircraft came to a stop in a relatively short distance.
