MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,978 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,978 m of the 3,701 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 696 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 31R at Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport. The aircraft, an Embraer E195, accelerated down the runway, covering a distance of 1,405 meters, which was 38% of the runway's length. The liftoff speed was 156 knots, and the aircraft lifted off the ground smoothly.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it encountered local weather conditions of 5°C temperature and a wind of 9 knots at 330 degrees. The crosswind component was 3 knots, while the headwind component was 9 knots. The enroute climb started overhead the airport, where the aircraft climbed from an altitude of 1,480 feet above sea level to 3,496 feet above sea level, an increase of 2,015 feet in just 2 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles.
After reaching the desired cruising altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 4 minutes and covered a distance of 11 nautical miles. This phase took place 2 miles north-east of Zuglo, a suburb of Budapest. Following the cruise phase, the aircraft began its descent, which started 1 mile west of Gyomro, a town in Pest megye, Hungary. The descent was from an altitude of 3,789 feet above sea level to 2,070 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,719 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 3 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 31R at Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport was made from the south-east, heading 310.0 degrees at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,619 feet above ground level. The landing was made on the runway, which was 3,701 meters long. The threshold height at 62 feet above ground level was above the target, but the threshold speed was good at 135 knots.
The touchdown point was 279 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was a little fast at 129 knots. However, the touchdown rate was good at -176 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating a smooth and controlled landing. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 21°C temperature and a wind of 6 knots at 269 degrees, with a crosswind component of 4 knots and a headwind component of 4 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,896 meters, which was 51% of the runway's length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 8.9 meters from the centreline. The total flight distance was 27 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 13 minutes. The aircraft used 557 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The aircraft in question, an E195, successfully landed at LHBP Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport on runway 31R. The final approach was initiated from the south east, heading 310.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,619 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's performance during the landing was satisfactory, with a threshold speed of 135 knots, which met the target.
However, there were a few areas where the landing could be improved. The threshold height at 62 feet agl was above the target, indicating that the aircraft may have been slightly high during the approach. Additionally, the touchdown speed of 129 knots was a little fast, which could have resulted in a longer landing distance. On the other hand, the touchdown rate of -176 feet per minute (fpm) was good, indicating a smooth and controlled descent.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 21°C and a wind speed of 6 knots from 269°. The crosswind and headwind components were both 4 knots, which was relatively light. The aircraft's runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot had successfully aligned the aircraft with the runway centerline.
The total landing distance of 1,896 meters was 51% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance. However, the touchdown point was 279 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which may have been due to the slightly fast touchdown speed. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 8.9 meters from the centerline, which could have been due to a slight deviation during the rollout.
Overall, the landing was satisfactory, but there were a few areas where the pilot could have improved the performance. With some adjustments to the approach and touchdown speed, the pilot could have achieved a more optimal landing.
