Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,937 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,937 m of the 2,722 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 658 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Milano Linate Airport, taking approximately 10 minutes and covering a distance of 3 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 36, with a takeoff distance of 1,251 meters, which accounted for 51% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 155 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it encountered local weather conditions of 17°C temperature and a wind speed of 1 knot at 270 degrees. The crosswind was 1 knot, while the headwind was 0 knots. The enroute climb started overhead the Idroscalo Milan, where the aircraft ascended from 1,394 feet above sea level to 16,008 feet above sea level, an increase of 14,614 feet in 7 minutes, covering a distance of 30 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began overhead Ternate, lasting 48 minutes and covering 276 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its descent 1 mile south of Eselborn, Luxembourg, where it descended from 16,008 feet above sea level to 10,003 feet above sea level, a decrease of 6,005 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 22 nautical miles.
The aircraft continued its enroute level cruise, starting 1 mile northwest of Stavelot, Belgium, lasting 3 minutes and covering 15 nautical miles. It then began its descent overhead Herve, Belgium, where it descended from 10,005 feet above sea level to 7,009 feet above sea level, a decrease of 2,996 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 15 nautical miles.
The aircraft continued its enroute level cruise, starting 1 mile west of Tongeren, Belgium, lasting 3 minutes and covering 16 nautical miles. It then began its descent 2 miles southeast of Glabbeek, Belgium, where it descended from 7,008 feet above sea level to 2,096 feet above sea level, a decrease of 4,912 feet in 5 minutes, covering a distance of 19 nautical miles.
The aircraft continued its enroute level cruise, starting 1 mile east of Limal, Belgium, lasting 5 minutes and covering 10 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 01 at Brussels Airport began from the south, heading 14.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,328 feet above ground level.
The landing took place on runway 01 at Brussels Airport, with a runway length of 2,722 meters. The threshold height was well above the target, while the threshold speed was good at 133 knots. The touchdown point was 240 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 122 knots and a firm touchdown rate of -366 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.2 meters from the centreline, while the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 9.2 meters from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 15°C temperature and a wind speed of 1 knot at 270 degrees, with a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 0 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,854 meters, accounting for 68% of the runway. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took approximately 5 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 412 nautical miles, taking 95 minutes and using 3,883 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A320 aircraft successfully landed at Brussels Airport (EBBR) on runway 01, achieving a score of 83.7%. The final approach was conducted from the south, heading 14.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,328 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft touched down on the runway, with the threshold height being well above the target, indicating a safe margin for the landing. The threshold speed was also satisfactory at 133 knots. However, the touchdown point was located 240 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which may indicate a slight deviation from the intended landing path.
The touchdown speed of 122 knots was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -366 feet per minute (fpm) was firm, suggesting a controlled descent. Nevertheless, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.2 meters from the centerline, which may have contributed to the deviation from the intended landing path.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 15°C and a wind speed of 1 knot from 270°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, and there was no headwind. These conditions likely contributed to a smooth and stable approach.
The total landing distance of 1,854 meters was 68% of the available runway length, indicating a relatively short landing distance. However, the runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 9.2 meters from the centerline, which may have resulted from the initial touchdown position being off-center.
Overall, the landing was successful, but there were some minor deviations from the intended path, which may be addressed through further training or adjustments to the aircraft's approach and landing procedures.
