Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 2,165 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,165 m of the 2,740 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 537 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Boeing 777F taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, taking 7 minutes and covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft then departed from runway 18L, with a takeoff distance of 1,852 meters, which was 45% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 166 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions of a temperature of 26 degrees Celsius and winds of 2 knots at 60 degrees. The crosswind was 1 knot, and the tailwind was also 1 knot. After departing from the airport, the enroute climb started 1 mile south of the airport, with the aircraft climbing from an altitude of 1,618 feet above sea level to 25,029 feet above sea level, an increase of 23,410 feet in 11 minutes and covering a distance of 63 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 3 miles southwest of Rainbow Field Purdon, Texas, and lasted for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 28 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent 6 miles east of Thornton, Texas, descending from 25,013 feet above sea level to 3,040 feet above sea level, a decrease of 21,973 feet in 16 minutes and covering a distance of 90 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started again 3 miles northeast of Green Acres Airport Hockley, Texas, and lasted for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 12 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent 3 miles south of David Wayne Hooks Memorial Airport Houston, Texas, descending from 3,020 feet above sea level to 1,315 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,706 feet in 2 minutes and covering a distance of 5 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 08L at George Bush Intercontinental Houston Airport was made from the west, with the aircraft heading 90 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,215 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 08L, which had a length of 2,740 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also good at 145 knots.
The touchdown point was 129 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 142 knots, which was good. The touchdown rate was firm at -303 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 6.7 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius and winds of 2 knots at 50 degrees, with a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 1 knot.
The total landing distance was 2,092 meters, which was 76% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area from the runway, taking 1 minute and covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 208 nautical miles, taking 48 minutes, and the aircraft used 6,661 kilograms of fuel.
The Boeing 777F aircraft successfully landed at KIAH George Bush Intercontinental Houston Airport, achieving a high score of 95.2%. The final approach to runway 08L was conducted from the west, with the aircraft heading 90.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,215 feet above ground level.
The landing was executed smoothly, with a good threshold height and a threshold speed of 145 knots. The touchdown point was 129 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is slightly off-center but not significantly impacting the overall performance. The touchdown speed of 142 knots was also within the acceptable range, indicating a controlled descent. The touchdown rate of -303 feet per minute was firm, suggesting a stable and controlled landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 25°C and a gentle wind of 2 knots at 50°. The crosswind and headwind components were minimal, at 1 knot each, which did not pose any significant challenges to the landing. The runway length of 2,740 meters was sufficient to accommodate the aircraft's landing distance, which was 2,092 meters, representing 76% of the runway.
The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft's brakes were applied smoothly and effectively, allowing for a stable and controlled deceleration. Overall, the landing was executed well, with the aircraft touching down safely and within the acceptable parameters.
