Hold the approach angle
Preparing for a stable approach will give you time to decide on whether to attempt the landing or going around. Too much altitude with a high sink rate will result in carrying too much speed onto the runway. Configuring flaps and the gear late also won't help the speed decay.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,254 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 70 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 15 at MSSS Ilopango International Airport. The aircraft, a PA28 Warrior II, accelerated down the runway and lifted off at a speed of 71 kt, covering a distance of 469 m, which was 21% of the runway length. The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 15 °C and a wind speed of 2 kt from a direction of 269 °, resulting in a crosswind of 2 kt and a tailwind of 1 kt.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb, which started overhead MSSS Ilopango International Airport. The aircraft ascended from an altitude of 2,737 ft above sea level to 5,107 ft, an increase of 2,370 ft, in just 3 minutes, covering a distance of 4 nm. Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise, which lasted for 20 minutes and covered a distance of 4 nm. This cruise phase took place 3 miles north east of Ilopango.
The enroute descent phase began overhead Ilopango, where the aircraft descended from an altitude of 5,061 ft to 3,811 ft, a decrease of 1,250 ft, in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 5 nm. After the descent, the aircraft entered another level cruise phase, this time overhead Tonacatepeque, which lasted for 3 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nm.
As the aircraft approached the final approach phase, it was heading towards runway 15 at MSSS Ilopango International Airport from the north, at a distance of 4 nm and an altitude of 1,489 ft above ground level. The landing was made on runway 15, which had a length of 2,254 m. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly below the target speed at 56 kt.
The touchdown distance was good at 68 m, and the touchdown speed was 53 kt, which was also good. The touchdown rate was smooth at -141 fpm. However, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 12.6 m from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were the same as at the time of takeoff, with a temperature of 15 °C and a wind speed of 2 kt from a direction of 269 °, resulting in a crosswind of 2 kt and a tailwind of 1 kt.
The total landing distance was 273 m, which was 12% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 14.7 m from the centreline. The total flight distance was 20 nm, and the flight duration was 34 minutes. The aircraft used a total of -53 kg of fuel during the flight.
The PA28 Warrior II aircraft successfully landed at MSSS Ilopango International Airport, achieving a score of 91.5%. The final approach was conducted from the north, heading 156.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,489 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 15, which has a length of 2,254 meters.
The threshold height was satisfactory, but the threshold speed was slightly below the target at 56 knots. However, the touchdown distance of 68 meters was considered good, and the touchdown speed of 53 knots was also within acceptable limits. The touchdown rate was smooth at -141 feet per minute (fpm), indicating a controlled descent.
Despite the good performance in terms of speed and distance, the aircraft's runway touchdown position was misaligned by 12.6 meters from the centreline. This may have been due to factors such as wind or pilot error. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 15°C, with a wind speed of 2 knots at 269°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 knots, while the tailwind component was 1 knot.
The total landing distance of 273 meters was only 12% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing roll. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 14.7 meters from the centreline, which may have been a result of the initial touchdown position being off-centre.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft achieving a good score despite some minor deviations from the ideal touchdown position and rollout alignment.
