MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,657 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,657 m of the 4,095 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 542 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at KLAS Harry Reid International Airport, taking 7 minutes and covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 01R, with the aircraft taking off after covering 72% of the runway's length. The takeoff distance was 1,844 meters, and the liftoff speed was 153 knots.
As the aircraft climbed into the air, it encountered local weather conditions of 21°C temperature and a wind speed of 4 knots at 40°. The crosswind was 1 knot, and the headwind was 4 knots. The enroute climb started overhead Paradise, Nevada, and took the aircraft from an altitude of 3,168 feet above sea level to 33,247 feet above sea level, an increase of 30,079 feet in 11 minutes and covering a distance of 151 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 7 miles east of Valle, Arizona, and lasted for 35 minutes, covering a distance of 650 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent 12 miles west of Holliday, Texas, and descended from 33,505 feet above sea level to 4,038 feet above sea level, a decrease of 29,467 feet in 20 minutes and covering a distance of 119 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started again 4 miles northeast of Mansfield, Texas, and lasted for 4 minutes, covering a distance of 13 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 36L at KDFW Dallas Fort Worth International Airport took place from the south, with the aircraft heading 0.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,281 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 36L took place with a runway length of 4,095 meters, and the threshold height was good. The threshold speed was also good at 137 knots. The touchdown point was 126 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 128 knots, which was good. However, the touchdown rate was fair at -218 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 8.2 meters from the centreline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 0°C temperature and a wind speed of 2 knots at 20°. The crosswind was 1 knot, and the headwind was 2 knots. The total landing distance was 1,577 meters, which was 39% of the runway's length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 8.0 meters from the centreline.
The flight ended with the aircraft taxiing to the parking area from the runway, taking 8 minutes and covering a distance of 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 942 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 87 minutes. The aircraft used 5,141 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed on runway 36L at KDFW Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, achieving a score of 95.5%. The aircraft approached the runway from the south, heading directly towards the runway at an altitude of 1,281 feet above ground level (agl) and a distance of 4 nautical miles (nm) from the runway.
The final approach was executed at a suitable speed, with a threshold speed of 137 knots (kn) being maintained. The touchdown point was 126 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 128 kn was also within the acceptable range, indicating a smooth and controlled descent.
However, there were some areas for improvement during the landing. The touchdown rate of -218 feet per minute (fpm) was considered fair, suggesting that the aircraft could have been brought down to the ground more smoothly. Additionally, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 8.2 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the aircraft's alignment during the approach.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 0°C and a wind speed of 2 kn from a direction of 20°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 kn, while the headwind component was 2 kn. These conditions were favorable for the landing, and the aircraft was able to maintain a stable approach.
The total landing distance of 1,577 meters was 39% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 8.0 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the aircraft's alignment during the rollout.
Overall, the landing was successful, but there were some areas for improvement in terms of touchdown rate and runway alignment. With some adjustments to the approach and rollout, the aircraft could potentially achieve an even higher score in the future.
