MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Arrival
Begin the flare with progressive back pressure and keep it coming until the sink is arrested, rather than flying it on flat.
What happened: The nose was barely raised in the flare and little of the sink was taken out, flying the aircraft onto the runway. This pattern usually carries through to a firm touchdown with a noticeable sink rate.
Watch for: Vertical speed indicator: a smoothly reducing sink through the normal flare band, not a steady rate into the runway.
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,695 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,695 m of the 2,914 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 276 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 8 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, Vueling EC-MGZ, then departed from runway 20 at LEJR Jerez Airport, a small airport located in Jerez de la Frontera, Andalusia, Spain. The takeoff distance was 1,365 meters, which accounted for 59% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 146 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 20 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 5 knots blowing from a direction of 170 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 4 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile south of the airport and rising from an altitude of 1,058 feet above sea level to 34,575 feet above sea level, an increase of 33,516 feet in 18 minutes, covering a distance of 103 nautical miles.
After reaching the cruising altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 38 minutes and covered a distance of 323 nautical miles. This phase started 1 mile south of Montefrio, another location in Andalusia, Spain. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 33 miles southeast of La Pineda, a location in the Catalunya region of Spain. The descent took 16 minutes, during which the aircraft dropped from an altitude of 34,979 feet above sea level to 2,466 feet above sea level, a decrease of 32,513 feet. This phase covered a distance of 56 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which lasted for 4 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. This phase started 1 mile southeast of la Barceloneta, a location in the Catalunya region of Spain. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 24R at LEBL Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport, a major airport located in Barcelona, Spain. The approach was made from the northeast, heading 246.0 degrees at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,281 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 24R was successful, with a touchdown distance of 272 meters, which was 55% of the runway length. The threshold speed was good at 140 knots, and the touchdown speed was also good at 138 knots. However, the touchdown rate was hard at -465 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.5 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 24 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 6 knots blowing from a direction of 310 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 5 knots and a headwind of 3 knots.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking, which took 5 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 492 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 90 minutes. The aircraft used 3,740 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The aircraft, Vueling EC-MGZ, successfully landed at LEBL Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport on runway 24R. The final approach was initiated from the north east, heading 246.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,281 feet above ground level. The aircraft demonstrated a high level of proficiency in its landing, achieving a score of 94.5%.
The pilot's approach to the runway was well-executed, with a good threshold height and a threshold speed of 140 knots. The touchdown distance was also within acceptable limits, measuring 272 meters. The touchdown speed of 138 knots was also satisfactory, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. However, the touchdown rate was slightly harder than ideal, at -465 feet per minute.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centreline, deviating by 4.5 meters. This minor deviation may have been due to the pilot's attempt to compensate for crosswind or other factors. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 24°C and a gentle wind of 6 knots from 310°. The crosswind component was 5 knots, while the headwind component was 3 knots.
The total landing distance of 1,608 meters was within 55% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing roll. However, the runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned from the centreline, deviating by 7.9 meters. This minor deviation may have been due to the pilot's attempt to maintain control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was satisfactory, with the pilot demonstrating a high level of proficiency in their approach and touchdown. However, there were minor deviations from the ideal landing parameters, which may be addressed through further training or adjustments to the pilot's technique.
