Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,772 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,772 m of the 2,914 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 571 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, Vueling EC-MGZ, then departed from runway 09 at LEGR F.G.L. Airport, also known as Granada-Jaén Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,843 meters, which accounted for 64% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 159 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to its cruising altitude, it encountered local weather conditions of 20 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 3 knots at 153 degrees. The crosswind was 3 knots, while the headwind was 1 knot. The enroute climb started 1 mile south east of Chauchina, Andalusia, Spain, and reached an altitude of 32,075 feet above sea level, an increase of 29,183 feet from the initial altitude of 2,891 feet. This climb took 16 minutes and covered a distance of 95 nautical miles.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 10 miles south of Letur, Castilla-La Mancha, Spain. This phase lasted for 27 minutes and covered a distance of 173 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent 2 miles east of Salsadella, Comunitat Valenciana, Spain, and descended from 31,711 feet to 3,942 feet above sea level, a decrease of 27,770 feet. This descent took 24 minutes and covered a distance of 116 nautical miles.
The aircraft entered another level cruise phase 8 miles south east of Premia de Mar, Catalunya, Spain, which lasted for 2 minutes and covered a distance of 5 nautical miles. The final descent started 5 miles east of el Besos i el Maresme, Catalunya, Spain, and descended from 3,515 feet to 1,322 feet above sea level, a decrease of 2,193 feet. This descent took 3 minutes and covered a distance of 8 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 24R at LEBL Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport, approaching from the north east at a heading of 245.0 degrees. The aircraft landed on the runway, which had a length of 2,914 meters. The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 148 knots. The touchdown point was 158 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 144 knots, which was good. However, the touchdown rate was fair at -261 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 7.7 meters from the centreline, and the runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 21.7 meters from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 16 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 11 knots at 200 degrees, with a crosswind of 8 knots and a headwind of 8 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,694 meters, which accounted for 58% of the runway. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 5 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 407 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 85 minutes. The aircraft used 3,838 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The aircraft, Vueling EC-MGZ, successfully landed at LEBL Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport on runway 24R. The final approach was initiated from the north east, heading 245.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,298 feet above ground level. The aircraft maintained a good threshold height, which is a crucial aspect of a safe landing.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was slightly above the target threshold speed, registering at 148 knots. This is not a significant deviation, and the aircraft's touchdown speed of 144 knots was within the acceptable range. However, the touchdown rate of -261 feet per minute was only fair, indicating that the aircraft could have been brought down more smoothly.
One notable aspect of the landing was the misalignment of the runway touchdown position, which was off-centerline by 7.7 meters. This could be attributed to the crosswind, which was blowing at 8 knots from the side. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 16°C and a wind speed of 11 knots from 200°, also played a role in the landing.
The total landing distance of 1,694 meters was 58% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. However, the runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 21.7 meters from the centerline, indicating that the aircraft may have been slightly off-course during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, but there were some minor deviations from the ideal landing parameters. The pilots' skills and experience likely played a significant role in ensuring a safe and controlled landing, despite the challenging weather conditions and crosswind.
