MY FS FLIGHTS

Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,432 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 69 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 5 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then departed from runway 13 at Minot International Airport (KMOT), with a takeoff distance of 1,841 meters, which was 79% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 157 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions of 19°C temperature and a wind speed of 9 knots at 220°. The crosswind component was 9 knots, while the headwind component was 1 knot. After departing from Minot, the aircraft began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile east of the airport and climbing from an altitude of 2,607 feet above sea level to 32,667 feet above sea level, an increase of 30,060 feet in 11 minutes and covering a distance of 115 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, starting 7 miles west of the Anderson Airstrip (NA51) in North Dakota. This phase lasted for 12 minutes and covered a distance of 166 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 1 mile north of Clarissa in Minnesota, and descended from 33,123 feet above sea level to 4,088 feet above sea level, a decrease of 29,035 feet in 18 minutes and covering a distance of 121 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, starting 2 miles southwest of the St. Croix Riviera Airport (6WI2) in Wisconsin. This phase lasted for 3 minutes and covered a distance of 8 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent, starting overhead the Winner's Landing Seaplane Base (0MN0) in Minnesota, and descended from 4,027 feet above sea level to 2,111 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,916 feet in 2 minutes and covering a distance of 6 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 30R at Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport (KMSP) was made from the southeast, heading 301.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,271 feet above ground level. The landing was successful, with a touchdown distance of 70 meters and a touchdown speed of 142 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was hard at -432 feet per minute, but the runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 23°C temperature and a wind speed of 14 knots at 290°. The crosswind component was 3 knots, while the headwind component was 14 knots. The total landing distance was 928 meters, which was 38% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect. After landing, the aircraft took 3 minutes to taxi to the parking, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 424 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 56 minutes. The aircraft used 2,144 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The CRJ900 aircraft successfully landed on runway 30R at KMSP Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport, achieving a score of 97.0%. The final approach was initiated from the southeast, heading 301.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,271 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft's approach and landing performance were satisfactory, with a good threshold height and a threshold speed of 143 knots. The touchdown distance was also within acceptable limits at 70 meters. However, the touchdown speed of 142 knots was slightly higher than the desired speed, indicating a potential for a slightly harder landing.
The aircraft's descent rate was notably steep, reaching -432 feet per minute (fpm), which is considered hard. This may have been influenced by the aircraft's speed and the pilot's decision to touch down at a slightly faster rate. Despite this, the runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was well-aligned with the runway centerline at the moment of touchdown.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 23°C and a wind speed of 14 knots from a direction of 290°. This resulted in a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 14 knots, which may have affected the aircraft's approach and landing performance. However, the pilots successfully managed the aircraft to achieve a perfect runway rollout alignment, indicating a high degree of control and precision.
The total landing distance of 928 meters was 38% of the runway length, which is within acceptable limits. Overall, the CRJ900 aircraft's landing performance was satisfactory, with some minor areas for improvement. The pilots demonstrated a high level of skill and precision, and the aircraft's systems performed as expected.
