Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 6,242 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 6,242 ft of the 11,467 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,264 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 8 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-700, then departed from runway 09 at SVMG Del Caribe Santiago Mariño International Airport, Isla Margarita, Venezuela. The takeoff distance was 2,809 feet, which was 28% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 176 knots.
As the aircraft climbed out of the airport, it encountered local weather conditions of a temperature of 82°F and a wind speed of 4 knots at 81°. The crosswind was negligible, and the headwind was 4 knots. The enroute climb started overhead the airport and continued to an altitude of 23,997 feet above sea level, an increase of 22,941 feet in 6 minutes and covering a distance of 18 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 18 miles west of the airport and lasted for 18 minutes, covering a distance of 113 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent 11 miles east of SVJT Guatire Airport, Guatire, Venezuela, and descended from 24,038 feet to 4,252 feet above sea level, a decrease of 19,786 feet in 14 minutes and covering a distance of 70 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, this time starting 21 miles west of Catia La Mar, Venezuela, and lasting for 12 minutes, covering a distance of 13 nautical miles. The enroute descent began 9 miles west of Catia La Mar and continued to an altitude of 1,513 feet above sea level, a decrease of 2,033 feet in 3 minutes and covering a distance of 6 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 10 at SVMI Simón Bolívar International Airport was made from the west, heading 88.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,320 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 10, which had a length of 11,467 feet. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 116 knots.
The touchdown distance was good at 1,264 feet, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 114 knots. The touchdown rate was hard at -456 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 81°F and a wind speed of 3 knots at 63°, with a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 3 knots.
The total landing distance was 5,954 feet, which was 52% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was perfect. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 6 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 229 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 68 minutes. The aircraft used 5,489 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-700 aircraft successfully landed at Simón Bolívar International Airport, achieving a high score of 97.1%. The final approach to runway 10 was executed from the west, with a heading of 88.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,320 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft maintained a good alignment with the runway throughout the approach.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed on the runway with a threshold height that was considered satisfactory. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 115 kt, registering at 116 kt. Despite this, the touchdown distance of 1,264 feet was deemed good, indicating a smooth and controlled descent.
The touchdown speed of 114 kt was slightly faster than the target speed, which may have contributed to a harder touchdown rate of -456 feet per minute (fpm). Nevertheless, the runway touchdown alignment was very good, demonstrating the pilot's skill and control during the landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 81°F and a gentle wind of 3 kt at 63°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 kt, while the headwind component was 3 kt, which helped to stabilize the aircraft during the approach.
The total landing distance of 5,954 feet was within the acceptable range, accounting for 52% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot maintained control and alignment with the runway during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft touching down smoothly and the pilot maintaining control throughout the rollout phase. The high score of 97.1% reflects the pilot's skill and experience in executing a safe and controlled landing.
