MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,795 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 465 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period, which took around 5 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile, to reach the runway from the parking area. The aircraft was departing from runway 29 at Vienna International Airport (LOWW).
During takeoff, the aircraft reached a liftoff speed of 144 knots in 23% of the runway length, which was 804 meters. The local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 18 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 21 knots from a direction of 309 degrees. The crosswind was 5 knots, and the headwind was 20 knots.
After takeoff, the enroute climb started approximately 1 mile northwest of the airport, with the aircraft ascending from an altitude of 1,615 feet to an altitude of 29,914 feet over a distance of 63 nautical miles in 13 minutes. The next phase of the flight was the initial enroute level cruise, which began 2 miles south of Waldhausen im Strudengau and lasted for 32 minutes, covering a distance of 210 nautical miles.
The enroute descent from the cruise altitude of 30,215 feet to 10,250 feet occurred within 10 minutes and covered a distance of 62 nautical miles, initiated over Gelchsheim in Bavaria, Germany. The subsequent enroute level cruise phase, which lasted for 2 minutes and covered 8 nautical miles, started 2 miles west of Biblis in Hessen, Germany.
The final descent phase started over Hangen-Weisheim in Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany, and took the aircraft from 10,243 feet to 5,291 feet in 6 minutes, covering 14 nautical miles. Another brief level cruise phase was executed over Horrweiler in Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany, lasting 2 minutes and covering 6 nautical miles.
The final descent to landing altitude began 1 mile northwest of Essenheim in Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany, and lasted for 4 minutes, covering 12 nautical miles, to reach an altitude of 1,632 feet above the ground. The aircraft then initiated the final approach to runway 07L at Frankfurt Airport (EDDF), flying from the southwest at an altitude of 4 nautical miles above ground level.
The landing on runway 07L was completed in good conditions, with a touchdown speed of 126 knots and a threshold speed also being satisfactory. Although the touchdown point was 47 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, the landing distance of 1,063 meters constituted 38% of the runway length. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centreline by 14.5 meters.
After landing, the total taxiing time from the runway to the parking area was 5 minutes, covering less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance of 383 nautical miles was completed in 1 hour and 23 minutes, using 2,253 kilograms of fuel.
The aircraft E195 successfully landed on runway 07L at Frankfurt Airport (EDDF) with a score of 93.2%. The pilot executed a final approach from the southwest, aligning with the runway at an angle of 69.0° and a distance of 4 nautical miles. At an altitude of 1,284 feet above ground level (agl), the aircraft maintained a steady course, ultimately touching down on the runway at a speed of 126 knots (kt), which was consistent with the recommended threshold speed of 131 kt.
The touch down point occurred 47 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, a slight offset but still within acceptable limits. The aircraft's descent rate during touch down was recorded at -243 feet per minute (fpm), which was deemed relatively fair. However, it's worth noting that a negative descent rate indicates that the aircraft was actually gaining altitude at touch down, which could be a concern. Nevertheless, the aircraft maintained control and touched down safely.
The pilot's decision to touch down on 07L at Frankfurt Airport was a prudent one, given the runway's length of 2,795 meters. Local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 17°C and wind speeds of 6 kt at 120°. The pilot effectively managed these conditions by navigating a crosswind of 5 kt and a headwind of 4 kt.
The total landing distance of 1,063 meters, which accounted for approximately 38% of the runway, fell within acceptable parameters. Following touch down, the aircraft's runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 14.1 meters. Although not optimal, this small deviation did not impact the aircraft's safe landing and operation.
Overall, the landing of the E195 on 07L at Frankfurt Airport was successful, with minor deviations that did not compromise the aircraft's safety. The pilot's skills and experience in navigating challenging weather conditions and managing the aircraft's systems were demonstrated. While areas for improvement are noted, the landing operation was largely uneventful and achieved the desired outcome.
